Are there people with CNC machines out there? If parts get more expensive, there may need to be aftermarket alternatives.

More of them...

Pelican having trouble finding transmission mounts at the old price.

Original targeted ship date has been delayed due to difficulties sourcing the following parts: 928-375-045-16-OEM;
We will ship as soon as the order is complete.

^^^ That's where I bought mine as soon as Roger posted this. Mine shipped from Los Angeles. Probably got hit with an internet flash-mob of sales.

Well I just checked availability on the transmission mounts and there are none nowhere.
None in the States and none in Germany and none at any dealer (apart from 5 in my stock).
So do not expect to see any from Pelican any time soon.

I received a shipping confirmation for two pairs I ordered on behalf of two overseas customers.

It isn't unique to Porsches; parts are going up for all of the cars from FIATs to Bentleys. I own FIATs, not Bentleys, so technically I'm not educated on the Bentleys. My fancy car is the 79 OB, and boy is it fancy.

The laws of supply and demand really don't apply well to ancient cars (and anything over 5 years old is ancient in America), so if you consider the 300 or so 928's that actually run and have people willing to buy parts for, Porsche isn't exactly sitting around figuring out how to gouge us.

What is happening is adjustments due to the toilet the Euro and Dollar are in. So when Porsche has Das Urbenschnoogen and Sons make 100 transmission mounts this year, Mr. Das Urbenschnoogen upped his price, Porsche added 60% to that price, and we get the price we get.

As previously stated, for safety parts - brakes, suspensions, steering - seriously consider what you buy. Those Pep Boys brake rotors might not stop your 3,000 pound 928 and that MADE IN STUTTGART, Inc. part that comes from Pwwaaanghoo China might just be a horse turd compressed between two pieces of aluminum. Just saying, if you're going to skimp then buy the cheap carpet, not the cheap part that keeps your car on the road.

Pelican canceled my order, the transmission mounts are NLA

Unfortunately, we recently discovered that one or more of the parts you ordered are No Longer Available (NLA). These are:

928-375-045-16-OEM
Transmission Mount, 2 req, 928 (1979-On) Brand: Genuine Porsche*** NLA

I certainly would not consider them NLA as I am pretty sure Porsche will restock.
Checked the Porsche system and they have back orders so that makes me hopefull they will restock.

Reply from Porsche on the transmission mounts:

According to Porsche the Trans mount will be available for order in Week 15 (April 9th-15) then ETA 7-10 days after that.

Cheers

You have to appreciate that this thread was started by one of the vendors, I think that's kind of cool.

His book is a compelling case that he didn't really see it that way.
