Well, I had to clean it, so I took the transmission out further. Well, all the way out.
But at least I will be ready with clean parts to put it back together:

The engine going to be ready to drop by April 4th or 5th? I would be up for a cherry picker day in SD....

I finally get to use the big pulley on the oem tensioner I bought new in.....2002? For some reason. Got the new AC line from Mark, and... "other parts"...

The last to Rob, engine is in from a few months ago. Belt is on. *oem* tensioner is on - after fiddling with it for 3 hours. You know what I'm concerned about? Is whether I'm going to have a problem with this thing and I should put the pk on. I need to install the air pump, but jeez - I know the oem works for millions of miles guy not all at once, and not without little hassles.
Hmm. Who thinks selling a car as original as possible, down to the cadmium color on the bolts means I have to stick with this tensioner

Some updates as I try and gain some momentum on the final push:
Some detail pics ( can't tell right now if I posted these)

The tank is cleaner now, and the pump assembly is on, with cadmium hardware. New fuel filter, but original pump (hope that will be okay - tested the pump extensively).
Ran into a snag with the rubstrips.
They are not on the options list as you can see early in the thread. But they are on there- stuck on with something akin to epoxy sealant, but it has communed with the paint. It cannot be removed by any *normal* means.
Any advice? Already tried:
WD40
Wax and grease remover.
Plastic scraper
You could sand it off with 2000 grit, but that will remove the single stage red as well.

Why remove the rub strips?
1) They are not original
2) They are not aging well, as the rest of the car looks very good and only has 30k original miles.
3) I don't like rubstrips
4) See #1
But it looks like I can't. I would like to, as plan B, remove them and reapply.
