I have been making the steps to get the motor ready to put back into this low mile 86.5 - and I have found stuff that at least makes me happy - spotless motor "insides"
I already posted the pic of the eerily clean crank case, but now here is what I found under the cam covers:
And for some reason I was shocked that the cam seals were not leaking:

This is what the new intake powder coating looks like, with the help of people on this list I think the color is close to what it came as from the factory. I do not know what it will look like after heat and use.

The update was that I was between jobs and got some work done on that car over the summer, only to completely halt the work when I restarted the 60 hour work week of my current position (which I love).
I have these pieces in protective storage ready to assemble. I have some more cleaning to do on the undercarriage in the wheel wells, as the cosmoline aged strangely and needs some additional elbow grease.
Suspension taken apart to clean as well. Never knew what new parts looked like, its interesting. Still will take the tank down to see what is in there.
When the intake is back on I will take some pics. Just need some small parts.
While the car is low mileage, the storage is something that will make things like the TPS, rubber bits, and brake lines inevitable for replacement.
I also found something, and I do not know if I posted this previously - there are no run strip holes in the body, but there are rub strips. I am tempted to take them off for the polishing and leave them off, but I don't know.

Not when they are stuck on with double sided tape.

The rub strips on my GTS were installed with panel tape - no mounting pins.
No idea if that was at the factory or at the Dealer.

On the subject of engine color...
We furnished some new engine parts a few years ago, and they were a not-very-attractive silver. Looked like the aluminum paint used on propane tanks.
No idea whether Porsche or its suppliers had any interest in matching original production paint finishes on their replacement parts.

Sounds rational. Where can you find the true options out with the VIN? Is it online?

Brendan, what's the VIN? I can run the original options for you.

I will text you it, and also respond to your text, which I forgot about.
