Lightweight Starter - Any Interest??

Roger is sending me a starter to "acid" test, too.
He says these starters are still in the stage where changes can easily be made and wants me to check them out and see if there are any issues.
Brave guy....I'm pretty picky.
Heinrich:
We always have had to clearance the IMI starters to clear the crank trigger on the late flywheel...so this is nothing new. It would be great if they could do this, before they are assembled...and this is the feedback that Roger is looking for.
Better to test a few units and find out what is wrong, before you release the item to the "general public".....Carl seems to "miss" this step, in his hurry to bring products to market. Don't get all excited here....I'm not "bad mouthing Carl, here.....just making observations.
It's really great that Roger and Sterling took the time to get his done. The original IMI starters fit pretty well, but always had fitment issues when headers and pan spacers got installed.
Rob:
Might be a good idea to try this starter on your car?

Sure, I'm game. I need to be able to put the belly pans on before May for my biennial smog, so a starter with the right clearancing for the timing ring and proper clocking for the B+ terminal would be great.

Having talked to H (thanks H) about his starter v our new one I found out that we received a batch of the original design and not the new design. Back to the drawing board and I do not know how this happened, maybe something got lost in the translation of English to American English 8>).
Greg sorry to waste your time but that starter will not be any good for the trial as it is not quite what we had in mind. Once you have it in your hands perhaps we can still appraise any differences.
We wanted a bigger bendix gear which did not happen either.
The pictures Sean took are of the correct starter.
IMI have been great and are fixing the issue as we speak and the wrong starters are already on there way back.
Sorry for the premature ejaculation.

This is why we talk, hand-wave, jiggle, fiddle and finagle as a community.
Maybe after back-and-forth, To get the things we want.
My [not the Shark's] timing is off - I just got one of Mark's December
half-off starters. Where were you guys a month ago??
G'luck out there.

Roger/Sean, when you get the 'right' ones, just make sure you hook 'em up to a battery and make sure they spin CCW. ( Didn't Mike S. have an issue with a 'southern hemisphere edition' IMI starter?)

I have an IHI mini starter that came from 928intl.....
NO ISSUES at all.....works great......the only downside is it can be tricky to fit with the 3/8th spacer....we had it "clocked" pretty low before and it was the lowest point under the car, which ISN'T good...so we made a guard welded on to the cross member to protect it....
The last time I had it in the shop for oil pan repair the race shop did a GREAT job of grinding down the oil pan and getting the mini starter back to a normal-ish position...it no longer hangs down crazy far...the oil pan will hit 1st.....so we cut the "protector" back....
In the past I burned up 2 stock (old) starters trying to start old engines......the mini starter originally came from the widow.....its at least 4 years old and rocks.....

Important advice since IMI seems to be prone to sending out the wrong items and the different rotation models look the same.
