Default Lightweight Starter - Any Interest??

The current lightweight starter available for the 928 is considered dangerous in that the main power connection is positioned at the top and could in the event of a crash short against the sump. This has put a lot of customers off from buying one.

With a great deal of help from some very clever local 928 Guru’s, 928sRus has been working over the last six months with the manufacturer to come up with a better, safer and more robust design.

We received the first one about a week ago and it has been trialed on my GTS with excellent results. Very strong motor that spins the engine slightly faster than the stock unit and should be plenty powerful enough for stroker motors and such.

They weigh 10Lbs compared to the stock 15Lbs.

I have advanced orders for four units but have ten arriving in about a week. Just testing for additional interest and thoughts.

Selling price will be $245 plus shipping.

Pictures to follow.

How does the size compare to the stock ones? Subscribed and likely in for one.

Quite a bit smaller.

I caught a glimpse at our breakfast this past weekend.

its smaller and lighter than the factory starter. bendix has good sized longer teeth that engage the flywheel much better. The teeth on the other mini starters were too narrow, and if they were a tad bit off it would be easy to only have the teeth lined up halfway.... all around its a good fit, better technology and should be a no brainer for a starter replacement, or upgrade.

Wonder how it sounds compared to stock. I've always liked the distinctive sound of a 928 firing up.

If it's a gear reduction starter, it should sound like a Honda.

That's not the answer I was hoping to hear, no pun intended.

The gears were laser cut to perfection.

All kidding aside, I installed this starter and have been very happy with the results. It does turn over at a slightly faster rate than the stock starter, this is compared to the new starter that I took off the car It doesn't sound like a Honda either.

Roger, set one of these aside for a customer of mine, he needs this.
