Hacker, your honda cant do that, because....... (and its not due to torque) because they are front wheel drive! DUH@!@!!
sure it can.... then it is pointed down, and too low. It ends up being the lowest point on the car....oh it also won't clear headers of any kind.....

This starter was developed to resolve those issues as well as using a motor with the proper torque and higher RPM than previous starters.

Definitely the lowest spot on the car, and somehow an aluminum rear belly pan hasn't seemed like a good idea with that terminal sticking down. But you can get one on with a pan spacer and headers. ( Though I'm sure it's being cooked to an early death.....)

Nice picture Rob. Ya thats why I am not crazy about headers in such a close area.
I bet the starters are cooked in 10k

this new starter resolves both of those issues.... moves it away from the headers and removes the stud from being the lowest part of the car.... that is why I never would install one of those other starters....

Since I'm half way to the 10K mark on this motor, if the new one will work with a pan spacer, I'm game to try before this one goes TU.

A new starter has shipped today to one of my customers who has a pan spacer fitted - wait and see for the feedback.

I would have to bet that those headers were made around the starter....

They're made around a lot of things, there was a whole engine/crossmember/rack jig/mockup. Amazingly, no clearancing had to be done on that #5 tube.

Roger, I will look forward to hearing about the outcome RE: the spacer. The IMI is REALLY tight with the bottom of the pan, it requires a trick upper bolt to mount it.

Rob, that is what I assumed. What I recommend for a pan spacer install is the lower bellhousing that you have that has the integrated starter bracket. Countersink the top bolt with a 45 degree bit, and then use the correct countersunk bolt. Install the starter to the lower bellhousing and then install the belhousing. The top bolt if you used a regular one would require clearancing on the pan....

Again, i guess I dont understand. its as low as other things, but the swaybar is the lower point. also , it does clear the header perfectly, not too close either.
dont thing either mark andersion, Fan or I have had any issues for the many years we have used the little starter. Ill post some pics if you want.

We now have the starters in stock for those that expressed an interest.
I send one to a customer to fit with a pan spacer but have not had any feedback as yet.
Also sent one to Greg Brown and will be keen to see what he has to say.
