Default 1993 GTS 5 speed with "hurt" stroker engine for sale

There has to be someone, out there, that is searching for a deal like this:

I've got a 1993 GTS that a client has decided to "pull the plug" and just get rid of the car. 5 speed. Grey on grey. 58,000 miles. Very nice, original car. Engine is not pretty on the inside!

He had a stroker engine (did not use the original GTS engine, but sold that and used a 5.0 engine as a starting point) built for the car in 2005 (not by me) that used lots of oil, from the very beginning. The engine also had so much compression that he needed to "feed" it a steady diet of race fuel (pre-Sharktuner) to keep it from pinging....which wasn't very practical. The oil consumption increased (finally used a quart of oil every 100 miles), as the engine got broken in (only has 5,000 miles on engine), and he finally parked it. He was forced to change the oil every 500 miles because the oil got very black, very quickly (probably very rich.) Original engine builder no longer in business. The owner has receipts for $35,000 for parts/labor to build the engine.

Long story short.

He brought the car down to me to see what was wrong with the engine. We looked in the bores with a borescope and determined that the bores were scored (some above the top ring). Took the engine apart and determined that the engine was ruined by silicon particles left over from bead blasting the intake system (I've now personally seen three engines ruined like this) and not properly cleaning the intake system after it was powder coated.

"Standard silicon damage"....pretty much isolated to 3 cylinders. Intake valve stems are worn, valve guides are worn, bores are bad, pistons are bad, wrist pins are bad, connecting rod pin bushing are bad, and oil pump is bad. Intake system still has silicon particles inside of it....not very hard to determine the cause of the damage.

Scat crank looks fine. Oliver rods look fine, except for pin bushings, but have "Chevy" offset and you can see the coated rod bearings beginning to wear, because of this offset problem.

Has a brand new (5,000 miles ago) set of GT cams. Minor pitting from using used lifters and stock valve springs. Has 968 intake valves and what appears to be good quality port work (I have not flowed the heads.)

While a major portion of the engine is bad and it won't be cheap to repair it properly, this has to be a great place to start for someone that wants a stroked GTS.

$27,500 takes the whole thing. He's done and doesn't want to take the time/spend the money to fix the engine.

I can email interested parties the disassembly/inspection report for the engine.

To bad it is an inferior 5spd car... If it were a roger box I *might* have an interest, but really better that it is a 5spd, that way someone else can enjoy it!

Yea, but then I'd have to rob a bank to get Greg to put it in and fix the engine! LOL! Someone is going to have some fun with this car, especially if they let Greg fix it RIGHT!

I have seen this car, it is REALLY nice. And positioned about as well as possible for a thorough PPI, too, it's already on the lift.....

This car was for sale before a couple years ago on here, the thread did have pics of the car. I do remember something about having to use special fuel to run it. The asking price was a lot more than what its being offered for now. The exterior color was very unique for a GTS.

Pics would be good. There is a 93 GTS auto (correction: 5 spd) in Amazon Green with up to date service, ready to roll, and just reduced to $ 27,900 on ebay. I think the price for this blown motor GTS could be a bit lower in today's market ? 77Tony

Attention to detail and not being rushed and therefore NOT sweating the small
Stuff can quickly lead to disaster. People say I work too slow. I say I'm taking time on the details. Grey on grey sounds really good looking.
