I don't think its fair to say it has no engine. It has some very expensive parts that are a good start for a stroker build.

I had the same failure years ago when I had the intake bead blasted and refinished by a now out of biz 928 performance shop in norcal......

Well, I suppose one could take the tack that it's overpriced compared to the $22K 5-speed '93 GTS I bought with 100K miles with an undiagnosed sick motor , but at least the PO has done the legwork of discovering the sick motor for the next guy. And much of the time-consuming parts of a stroker motor are already done . 'All' it needs is to for the engine block to be nikasiled, have proper pistons and rods installed, and to replace all the bead-blasted bits. Easy peasy.

LOL! You are so funny Rob! That bit about knowing it has failed is in fact a small plus I guess vs. thinking you got a great deal on a great car just to find out in a few hundred miles that btw, it needs a new motor... UGH!

If the oil pump has gone bad, would that also mean that the block surface where the pump gears ride has been damaged too?
I think it would be better to just source another block and have it Nikasil coated for a stroker project. Or buy a new GTS short block from Porsche, I think they are still available.

I did get a great deal on a great car, If I'd had a half gram of brains in my head I would have shipped the car home, had Greg re-do the stock GTS motor with R2 rods for ~$13K and had a beautifully repainted midnight blue $35K 5-speed GTS with a fresh motor. But NOOoooooo......

I am at the hospital tomorrow, will stop by Greg's and shoot some current pics of the gray beastie.

Tony,
The car that you were referring is actually a 5 speed on eBay. Yes, $27,900. I totally agree with you, despite being a nice car, it is going to be quite difficult to move this 93 GTS with a blown motor for $27,500.

Point of order. Those rods had nothing to do with your engine implosion right Rob?
