I've been adding 60-2 rings for years but not right now, I'm too busy.
I recommend what Hacker said over an aluminum one if you just want a DD. The stock steel flywheel is so good and it's weight is trivial. Aluminum brings the risk of having cheap crap materials being used in the wear surface.

Marc- Greg and Rob at RPS have been working on this setup for several months now.

RE: replacing a DD setup, I'm replacing a 'stock' DD setup (only non-stock bit was an upgraded pressure plate) with a 60-2 ring on it, so this will bolt right up. It uses a hydraulic Tilton release bearing, so you do need to put a hole in the side of the bellhousing, and the bleed line runs out the old release arm opening. Greg wanted to be completely futureproofed against limiited supplies of Sachs pieces. The only factory bits left are the timing ring and the intermediate shaft.

Louie was kind enough a few years back to loan me his jig for aligning an S4 timing ring on an 85-86 flywheel:

No, the early flywheel is a tad bit smaller, I found out the hard way. I thave three S4 auto rings and five 78-84 flywheels....no go.

One could try to weld them together. When my local metal master Todd said: "I wouldn't if it were my car" I decided to just get the correct parts - 85/6 flywheel.

I'm sure Mark Anderson has a pile of them. S4 automatic flywheels are not in much demand

WOW that sure looks good ! gets away from all the mechanical arm socket pivot pushrod stuff. vert tidy !Curious to hear how the feel is as far as stroke and stiffness.

That's really nice! How did the rest of the plumbing go? did you have to remove the bell housing to cut that hole? i wonder if a Throwout like that could be used on a DD set up... :-P

I think it is designed to be used on everyday drivers. Rob's is NOT a track car it just makes power as if it were

This is a "push clutch". The stock clutches are "pull clutches", so this kind of a throw out bearings won't work in the stock application.

I originally designed this clutch to be a pull clutch, but changed the design halfway through the process, when I realized how tough getting stock pieces was getting to be....especially the T/O bearings.

Like Rob said....the only thing stock that this set-up uses is the central clutch shaft.

The bell housing needs to be moved back, in order to get the flywheel past the rear "nose" on the crankshaft (the flywheel is not flat, like the stock one.) Since we were installing a different torque tube with "Constantine Bearings" anyway, the bell housing almost "jumps" off, at that point.

For that matter, once the clutch is removed, the torque tube virtually "jumps" out of there, too.
