Been in an 07 Cayman base for a few months now. Such a different car from the 928. Even found a cobalt color, very similar to my first restored euro 928. Seating height very similar, but otherwise so different. Mine is a tiptronic (really not as big of an issue as I was afraid of) people really trash the tips but I got used to it quickly and Porsche seemed to do a good job with it. It shifts nice and quickly without delay and when you're lazy you can keep it in auto. Not PDK, but not the terrible negative many make it out to be IMO. Biggest thing i miss is that nice V8 rumble, never thought I'd like the flat six sound much but dove in anyway. Open it up in a tight tree lined road or under a tunnel and it sounds VERY nice. Not a lot of torque but as everyone says- keep the revs up and it's a ton of fun. Handling is amazing, especially compared to the 928's I've owned. None of mine were massaged in the suspension dept, but in stock form this thing is just ridiculous in turns, like steering a bumper car compared to the long hood feeling 928. It just goes wherever you point it. Ride definitely suffers and is more harsh than the 928. As much as I've loved my 928's, I always felt like I didn't "deserve" them, because my service was always so experimental compared to others here on RL. The help here was the biggest reason I stayed in a 928 so long and was much appreciated. The Cayman definitely feels small inside compared to the 928, but legroom is decent. One thing I notice is the feel isn't as handmade/built like a tank as the shark. The plastic in the frunk, etc isn't great. Service on the mid engine is a little weird, change plugs through the rear wheel wells?? WTF? oil change, air filter, etc not bad. Flushing the coolant looks to be a big PIA compared to our 928's. Will find out this fall. Would I pay $60k for one? No. But as a used car similar cost to a nice 928, it's been lots of fun. I know a few on the 928 RL areas have/had them, curious on others' opinions/experience compared to mine. One thing lacking for sure- the RL forum sections aren't half as active as the 928's, which is a bummer..

I've always wanted a Mas Combicorsa or Gran Turismo. 2006 or earlier...I want the Ferrari red valve covers. a big part of the reason I don't own one yet is most come up for sale with very little clutch left on the F1 trans, and thats a $6-7k repair on a car that should cost $15k...

I am definitely lusting after an F car these days. Torn between a 308QV/328 or 360 in the entry level sports car category but would even consider the right (read: manual) 456 as a more or less direct replacement of the 928. Wife side eyes me every time I even say the word Ferrari so this may not be a thing in this timeline.
