VETTE TRANNY INSTALLED-SOME TESTING RESULTS AT POST 157
Since a couple of you already know what we've been up to, might as well post that we finally got around to fitting a c5 transaxle into the track car. After making a few parts to allow the LS motor to move into the correct position for good axle alignment, it fit quite well. The fuel cell on my car is still a little close to the back of the diff, but when we fitted it to the 86.5, the factory tank was no problem. We still have to decide on how we are going to handle the axles for testing purposes. Modify them to mate to the 928 or go to the Vette uprights, with 928 or upgraded Vette rear brakes and 5 x 130 hubs.
The c5 transaxle might be a little weak for my motor, but hopefully will hold up to three days of pretty easy testing at Thunderhill in the middle of May. Mostly concerned about suspension issues and how they affect turn in and corner stability. If all goes well, my car will definitely get a built c6z06 Quaife or Giken diff when finished, but I'm still undecided on what transmission to use. A sequential would be economically silly, but the EMCO sure is tempting (don't want the Holiger and X-trac harder to fit).
We are also working on a Vette TT and Transaxle for the 928 motor. Market is pretty small, so don't know if it will be worth developing the parts. We'll see.
As to pictures-Not until we figure out a few more things and are ready of offer any of the parts we have to fabricate.

I suspect there may be a market for the TT and transaxle behind the Porsche motor.

The prevailing wisdom on this transplant was that it wouldn't fit. Had anyone actually tried this before Larry? Way to go Larry I hope the finishing touches go smoothly and photos are soon to follow! I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the interest.

I was wondering how long it would take to have that question to come up!
Actually, won't be offering any of the 5 speeds we have until we're happy with the swap. Then we will be offering a whole bunch of prime parts we've been accumulating.

We'll reveal the details after we decide if there are any proprietary adaptation parts we can make and sell. However, torches are used in welding and sawzalls are used in cutting. Pretty normal stuff when making custom parts.
