Default My first 928! 1979us 5 speed-LSD!

so one day im looking at collector cars on ebay and see a white 81 928 for 800 dollars!! WTF its in nice shape, thinking wow can i really get a 928 this cheap, so i started looking to buy. I find her an hour away no pictures hasn't run in 10 yrs but only 10 mins from my parents house, so i set up with the owner to go look at her, stop by grab my father and tell him were going to check out a 928. We get there its under 3 feet of snow, no problem i brought a shovel. after hours of digging there she was, got to have her! so after a sleepless night i call larry and tell him im coming to get her! Let the fun begin!

Started out by blowing thousands of egg corns out of the engine compartment!

1. Drain gas put new in along with marvel and injecter cleaner.
2. fuel pump not working, check relays and fuses all good. Bad pump. (no one has one i can get same day, weekend is hear and its 65 in ny i want to get her running so i decide to rebuild my pump, well after all day sat. its back together and working, so sunday my goal was to hear her run!) NO sleep sat, Awake a 4.30am.
3. put the pump in working so i give her a try, starts and dies ok.
4. Remove injectors only 5 out of 8 were recieving any fuel, take lines off clean also clean the fuel dist. and replace some brittle hoses, spot some vac leaks and repair.
5. SHE's alive!

i will move on to the brakes next. 3 out of 4 calipers are siezed. hope to free them up and get working enough to get her in the garage. where the major work can begin.

I would like to say i found this site the night i got home from looking at her and have been on everyday since!!! some great advice and help full hits along with some great 928. Thanks, Steve

Wow.
NICE save.

Where are you? Maine?]

Area code on the truck suggests NY. Looks too cold.

Very nice! I just picked up a 78 to restore. I like the green. Maybe we can trade notes as we go on this journey!

I bought my 79 5 spd last year and interior was not that nice. Also cork interior!! Good luck. Resist the urge to move to fast as there is likely a huge amount of things that should be done before she is a regular driver

GO Steve!
The cork on green is gonna be lovely. I think you will find 928s pretty easy to work on. Yours needs some attention, but it looks like it has not really been molested, and you seem to be up to the task. The interior is in relatively good shape, the color is origonal, its a five speed, and the cork interior is great.
If you have not already, you can find the factory service manuals here:
