Got the crank bolt off with the engine on the stand, which ended up being a lot easier than expected from what I've read here. The PO did the last TB/WP at a dealer's service department and so far it looks like they did a perfect job of it since nothing has been over-torqued. So far.

Harmonic balancer, though.... Grr.

I discovered aluminum heat shields in front of my brake rotors after cleaning all the crap off of them.

While getting my car ready for springtime, I am changing the odometer gear, and the automatic tranny dash display bulbs.Just a general cleanup with the contacts in the dash. Mine looks very good, actually

^^^^^Boy, what a difference so far^^^^^

Removed the belly pan and air filter housing, cleaned them and stuck them in the back of the car. Drained anti-freeze, since I couldn't remember what the previous owner had done here...totally clean and green...oh well, it will get new stuff anyway.

Not exactly sure if I'm going in the right direction here. Plans were to restore this car once I was retired, but I find myself picturing the engine out of it this weekend. Then, the next day I picture the new seats installed, hand polishing the exterior and making a few mechanical repairs...and driving it to Sharks in Hell this summer.

So, do I continue to slowly disassemble the car...or keep it close enough to reassemble for one summers worth of driving?

Decisions, decisons, decisions...

Brian.

Finally finished my clean-up of the fried wires in the loom and recovered everything with Tesa Fuzzy Tape. Really happy with the cleanliness of the job, and glad to have this one checked off my list.

Took advantage of the crazy nice weather in NC today and started the prep work on front bumper. Doors and rear of car were painted last January now it's time for front of car.

Bumper, all hardware, lights will come off for painting but this phase of sanding was easier with bumper on. Started with 80 grit to take off clear coat and multiple layers of previous work. Then did 120 and finished with 180. I'll hit everything with 320 just before I drop off at painters shop.

Changed the differential and transmission fluid in the Z06 6-speed transmission setup. Went with Joe Gibbs Racing SL75w-90 in the differential and their Dexron III rated STF in the trans. Shifts much smoother and starts from a stop are also smoother. Think the trans had a Redline fluid in it previously, but I had a notchiness going first to second that's now gone. We'll see how it goes long term.

Finished repairing frayed wires at the CE Panel connectors. Heatshrunk over existing wires where I could, crimped on new ends (
locking ones from Amazon locking ones from Amazon
) where I couldn't. Also cleaned out the CE Panel area, as I think that's where a lot of the mustiness in the car came from. Must have been a flood in there at some point. Phew did it stink! Had the Panel in the basement with a fan on it, and it honestly made my entire basement smell like the inside of my car.

While waiting for Stabilant 22 to arrive so I can finish the CE Panel refresh, moved to Windshield Washer system. Starting at the front / intensive setup, motor off, cleaned out the reservoir, starting to cut fresh tubing. Got it done to the first T in the line.

Took the car out to see if I can relax the suspension after the steering rack job. I did little bit of weaving in a parking lot. Now I can shove 3 fingers under the fender instead of my whole hand. I still have more driving to do I guess. I could only get 2 fingers under it before I lifted it.

Lowered the shark from its perch on the 4 post lift. Dusted and wiped. Put on new cover. Raised the lift with covered car to previous position!

Won Third Place at the PCA-LSR Concours at Hobby Airport near Houston, TX. Beautiful 928S took First and a '94 GTS 5-speed took Second! The 924's and 944's looked good but just couldn't compete with the 928's. Three of my clients also won ribbons in their divisions.

With the 12C day yesterday, did a little cold start tuning on the MS3, fired it up and rolled out into the sunlight - first time since last fall. Sure nice to hear it run again! Had a lifter tick that slowly went away as it warmed up, and probably a bearing going out in the alternator, so back into the garage on the ramps so I can work under the front end next.

Pulled my hood off and removed blower. Cleaned everything in sight, including evaporator, which was pretty bad. I used MAF cleaner on that, and a vacuum, and little brushes. Got it very clean and shiny. Secured a missed screw that holds down the blower which is accessed under the footwell. I have to say my AC now practically freezes me out of the car. Single best maintenance thing I have done to improve AC performance. 29 years of filth on that evaporator. Really happy day.
