It has to run by Monday. Anyone in San Diego or OC have a Fuel Filter AND the S- shaped hardline from the pump to the filter? Some screwball hacked up the original and attempted to put in a pump that would probably not run a geo metro properly.

I've got a used pump, new filters, and perhaps a used line....but have a new line, for sure. I'm finishing up building an engine and will be at the shop, in the afternoon. I was there all day today...you should have called. Call my cell.

WYAIT you should replace all the fuel lines, and while you are doing that you probably should drop the fuel tank, flush it and replace the fuel sender, and...you know how it goes....

Bill. Having Leeroy taught me something. Taught me more than a few things. I know i should drop the tank, but I didn't. I took the completely clogged strainer off, and flushed the entire tank with mineral spirits and then water.

Yes - water. There is plenty in the fuel we buy so it shouldn't hurt. The 10% ethanol in normal gas is probably about 5% water.

SO now its clean, and I am going up to see what a small wad of cash will get me from Greg, who is the only person proabably within 300 miles that has what I need for this car on a Sunday afternoon.

With all good grace, the car will be ready for work tomorrow - at least to drive gingerly. I guess we'll see.

The fuel in the tank turned into a stank brown sludge and destroyed the fuel level sender - but I have one of those.

I am thinking about how I may take the cap off the fuel rail and try to blow through that as well.

This is what you get when you don't pay much for an 86.5. But it should be okay.

DRIVE your cars people. They don't like sitting. This one has an oil change sticker from 2006 for 1000 miles less than what is on there now.

Man, have you changed! In the past if you found you were missing a single M6 nut, you stripped the car down to nothing, got kinda hung up at that point and then sold the car in pieces. Leeroy was good for you.

Not all there today. Probably too much fuel inhaled yesterday. Pump still leaking a bit from the crush washer I forgot to get a new one of. Car started and ran, sounded better the more I drove it, but then it died and only restarted occasionally.

Pushed it back home in the dark. Swore a bit. Swore some more.

Woke up and realized that maybe it was the fuel amount I put in. I put in 2.4 gallons, and ran the car a bit before driving. Then drove it around the block twice, and then drove out on the larger road. It died.

I'm hoping it was just a stupid mistake like fuel, otherwise its an issue where if it gets warm it dies. Sounds like there may be an exhaust leak and maybe one cylinder is not firing or getting fuel.

I'll update when I have had a chance to fill it up more.

If the tank was empty and you put in 2.4gal and drove more than say 10 miles then yea, it probably just ran out of gas...

I've done that before. Swore I put enough gas in it so didn't check it again. Went though everything I did previously, hours and hours, only to have someone else tell me to check the gas tank.

Sure as hell, freaking empty.
