Its about learning..not hammering.

..serious.

I bet you hammer it from a light more than you would at a beginner level in a track day...perhaps even moderate level.

And NOBODY says you have to go faster than you wanna.

Awesome..I got my beater car into 'close enough' alignment...

Front pass side, the camber adjustment bolt is just frooooooze, and the tie rod same side, aint much better. Compensated on the other side..wheel a RCH off center, no big deal...and I have .6d more neg camber on the pass side as well than drivers side.

Just gotta replace a busted rear stud (pull hub) this week..them im feelin set.

The 928 wont make it..just now R&Rd the throttle body on the couch..still waiting on cad plating that wont be done till Tuesday.

Did you try soaking to PB blaster on it?

I do have a set of toe plates at the shop....you are welcome to tinker with it if needed...I am sure someone will have a camber gauge too....just have to ask around...

A touch more on the pass side is okay for Thunderhill...since most turns are left with really only 3 (since 14-15 are really one big one) right turns...

Nah..im fine.

Ive raced for about 12yrs, just recently given it up to give back to racing as a safety chief, and now working up into race directing...lots of fun at the Hill.

Next time I go in for alignment..i'll just go in with new hardware and tell the shop "here...just do it". Cept for the shark, I just dont like workin on cars as much as I used to.

Thanks for the offer tho.

The tie rod can be broken with the large vicegrips! much more force available vs the hex nuts an the flat on the tie rod. camber ecentric, might be a problem.
Seriously, if you have camber off, no biggie. you are no where near in the problem zone. 0 would be a problem. 2.5 degrees would be a problem. toe at more than 1/4" out would be a problem.

Ya..I have the car trackin dead straight, for the toe I couldnt pull in on one side, I just "fixed" on the other side.

Heck, I remember shortening track on the left side of my old RX7s to race at Thill..had about 1-.5" of difference between both sides..THAT was fun...added a lot of turn-left speed to the car.

But..this will be my first serious turn around a track in..geesh, 4-5yrs, so im no no hurry to go any faster than my own personal physics will allow me.

the car should always track dead straight unless you have some camber or other issues. toe is self centering, but the drawback is the wheel might not look straight.
camber is not very important for handling with our cars. its very forgiving because of the geometry. you dont need much camber which is good, and if you dont have enough, you will burn the outside edges, but handling willl be fine, especially on a track day . Ive run my car around with only eyeballing stuff and it was pretty tame. not perfect, but much better than most cars out there handling wise.

*nods* Just isnt a 928 im in.

And I lied...Ive been running 9.10ths laps for years..just a 16,000lb tow truck.

With the arm out all the way, you can drift thru most of T2 at Thunderhill, the bottom of 5...and going backwards, sadly..cannot get enough speed to get any air over 5 like everyone else can.

when we set the toe on the Estate to "zero" in front it really improved steering response...the turn in got much more crisp & it took out some understeer....now we have the front still at zero and the rear at just a smidge toe in.. I am hoping that plus the stiffer rear bar should make it nearly neutral...

I found that the toe in front is not that big of a deal handling wise either. the rear toe is because of the weisach, making it even worse to rotate the car. anyway, a little more toe out in the rear solves the problem.

If you are under braking, too much toe out gives a ton of wandering, toe in makes it a little tighter, I have toe set at slightly toed in by 1/8" and it seems to be perfect now. the biggest change was toeing out the rear to get more rotation around the turn apex and exit
