RX8 has a 7.3:1 3rd gear
9800rpm is about 95mph with a 75 circumference tire. That sounds about right.

your gear box, if a 2007 6 speed manual, model rx8, is 4.44 rear end .

Just short of 84" circ. I run 245/45/18s in the rear...ya..they all had 4.44 finals.

The highest G force the trackmate record in the Estate at the Sears lemons race was about 1.23g with anderson driving in T6..... My butt-o-meter says I was around 1.2+g with the same tires on Sunday..but in comparison the R comps are much better...1.4-1.5g I would guess...

Bottom line is lap times......an easy way to check is to look at your photo's in got blue milk....since they tend to stay in the same corner for a while..... that is how I used to track lap times in Sharky.... what number were you running? If you were in #8 then your best time with a passenger who I think was mike is a a pretty good 2:19....quite good for a street car, on street tires with a passenger!!! That would explain why Mike had such a GRIN on his face!!! I think my best in Sharky was a 2:24

My best lap times over the top at Thunderhill is 2:09.8....2:11.8 this past weekend....on R comps....Dean has ran as fast at 2:09.5.... which is pretty good considering only 200whp....I've have run 2:06.9 on the bypass.... The very best SM's are 2:07's over the top....2:05's on the bypass....Spec944 is much slower....both are around 2:10-2:11....SpecE30 I have only seen for the bypass..but the record is high 2:07....

HOWEVER....its safe to say I have the fastest $256 car around

you have to put up a measuring tape and a level to the tire. they say my 305x35 is 26.5, and its really 26.
a 245x45x18, might be a little taller, I agree. but, if you were not really tagging the rev limiter at 9800rpm, then obviosly it was slower. things are always a little different than what they actually are at the track, ive found.

I dont think a 3300lb Rx8 can run around turn on street tires at a faster rate than 305 s on all 4s, race rubber and 2900lbs , do you ? or that S2000, which has the T3 record, and is 240hp, maybe near that at the rear wheel, but on R compound. I run around that car like its standing still out there. David vodden driving the yellow S2000 T3 car.

anyway, you need video to really have a poor mans comparison. with only a rememberance of the speedo, or tach, its going to be pretty far off reality.

Ill have to check the telemetry of some cup cars or GT3 street cars on DOTs to see what they are doing out of turn 8

Alright, I'm gonna blame _all_ of you when I look back... but I'm hooked. Again.

Red guy is gonna be a track car. I saw both ends of the spectrum and parts in between this weekend, and it reminds me how much fun, expensive, obsessive, scary, expensive, fast... it all is. Even watching Mark push his poor broken beast down the paddock, and I would have helped... but I was headed to the grid, and it's part of the deal. **** breaks. But then you get those laps... or that time... or you dodged that bullet... and I want in.

So... STFB. Here's where I'm coming from, and what I'm starting with this time.
Right on.

$ per speed you do!! It holds it's fluids way better than any other car in the $300 range as well.

The Bypass, the 8's turn 2:05s 25hrs at a time, every year, without thinking...fastest lap this last year by an 8 was a 2:02.

Last time on the scales, it was about 3235 with me in the car.

Dunno, I never spend much effort racing cars in MS Excel. Each car has it's own class..the only times I cared about were in it.

The hardest we ever tried..was getting a Pro7 to break 2:00 at Sears, and we did it..once.

How'd you like the yeller car??

My old co driver Ken, can screech out better laps than me..he's more disciplined. I kicked myself out of the TransAm..just out of sheer self preservation.

The original 500Hp build was giggles, 600Hp was fun, 750, started to feel more threatening.

So we moved the big boy seat to the pass side...if we get the cell and stuff done, I'll find ya and see if you wanna ride in it.

Giggles and grins in the pass seat.

When do we start the teardown?

Spend the winter on teardown and cleanup, then theres plenty of avail shop time for a cage once the racing season starts.

Well... first thing is to make a plan. Then do an inventory of go-fast parts scattered among them. See what I've got from there. Right after I finish the tb/wp so I can move the pig. I know for sure it has GTS brakes in it's future, and I have new eibachs on the black guy, and there's headers+ypipe on the white guy, bullet proof shifter cup, mm's, silly opg, ... then there's that extra 4.5L sitting on the stand... needs freshening...

Good grief.

I remember those days, racing with Kirberg (pro 7 champ) at sears with me in my street 928 '84, trying to keep up. we were in the low 2:00s at the time.

my point is, no street car will have a chance with a race car around turn 8, no matter what the tach and speedo are saying. But, i certainly would want a ride.
Ive been driving thunderhill for 15 + years now, and have hit turn 8 everyway imaginable, but have never got all 4 wheels off. (close) so I think I know the limit, at least, of my car, and couple Rx7s ive raced there too. The yellow car was really fun, but gutless. kind of fun no lifting for 8, and still wanting more, even though we are hitting it at 90 mph I imagine. (5700rpm in 4th)
If we I was hitting 90mph at the kink 8 at 5700rpm, then the straight at 7000rpm would be 110mph, which seems about right, especially on 320treadwear street tires , full tread.

remember, we are talking 3200lbs (corrected from 3300lb), Rx8 running street tires, not DOT R here. If the T3 champions running Dot R are running 2:10 +, i dont think you would be running much faster in the same car, no matter how good you are . thats why I like video, at least you can get a ball park for time and speed based on times, segment times and comparitive video from other known entities. I guess the main point is that it is physically impossible for your car to run around 115mph as you say, under any conditions, with any driver, based on grip and set up available on your car. Its not even really up for discussion, because it cant happen! BUT, Im sure you were close to its limit, whatever the speed, with that rotary around 8.

on race rubber!

thats also the bypass, so add 2 seconds min. so, 207s on race rubber, but these are gutted race cars, not stock street cars on street tires. you know, big diff.

forget about the 4.5 on the stand. just take Petty's soon to be old, 4.7 euro motor bottom end and use it. its in great shape im sure.
do my extention rotor plan for the S body to use the 330mm rotors and slap on some pagid black racing pads and you are good for the season!
