Lucas Oil Products?
Hey fourm - I was at Autozone today and I have seen but never really played much attention to Lucas Oil Products.
What are your thoughts of their Power Steering Stop Leak, Transmission Stop Leak, Engine Oil Stop Leak and their engine oil treatmeants.

I was thinking of trying some of their products but I wanted your thoughts and wondering if anyone has every tried their products.

Hell, I'll go first. I would never use any "Stop Leak" product in a P-car. However, I add a bottle of Lucas Synthethic oil additive when I change the oil. I also have 1/4 bottle Lucas gear oil added to the rear diff. My car is at 186, 000 KM. Can't hurt.

I used the transmission stop leak on my Auto S4, the trans fluid was old (dark orange) and low so I added it along with some regular transmission fluid. the shifting became smoother. It was only a temporary thing, I mainly used it to clean the system. I changed the fluid with dex/merc about 50 miles later, so my experience is not long term.
It was recommended to me for my old VW bug transmission by a professional. the gear box only takes about 3 quarts, so I used one quart Lucas and two quart regular gear oil, shifting improved significantly. For years first gear used to grind badly when everything got to operating temperature, after I used this stuff the problem was gone.

You need to use transmission fluid for your power steering pump, not power steering fluid like other normal cars.
This is just my experience, I am not saying you should use this stuff. Some may have more experience on using it on 928s than me.

By proper products and fix things that are leaking!
You always see that stand of their heavy duty oil stabilizer with the gears, well try to convince them to put a drill on it...... Then see how well it works.....

There's a also a Valvoline dex/merc transmission fluid with stop leak built in, called Max Life, in a red bottle.
I used it on my Jaguar XJS convertible top mechanism that had a leak, it did work OK

Will I am thinking of changing my transmission fluid and adding some of the Lucas additive for kicks....along with my next oil change.
I use Mobile 1 Full Synthetic 10/30w...anybody use anything different. Its not like I race my car or drive it hard. Heck with all this dam San Antonio Traffic...I would be lucky just to hit 70mph on a short stretch of the road.

Mobil 1 15-50 should be used in a 928.

You should be using 15/50 or 20/50 oil. The oil you are using is too thin.

You need 20W50, some people use Royal Purple 15W50 in DFW area but apparently their oil pressure light came on so they went back to 20W50 RP.
Using 10W30 is going to pound the crap out of your bearings. After you do a run, shut off the car and check the oil on your oil dipstick for tiny metal particles.

You don't need the additive, it's not going to hurt anything.
I know a couple of engine builders who always dump a bottle of STP (blue bottle) in with every oil change. It's just a thick base stock with a ton of ZDDP.
I'm using Brad Penn now, basically because it's cheap and works well in my friend(s) race cars.
I fired up the 81 a few hours ago for what is probably the last drive of the year. 18-20 or so ambient outside. Probably 32+ in the garage (nothing is frozen....yet). Started up fine, no ticking, good pressure.....
