Actually it's not as sad, 'cause he's done nothing so far that can't be reversed. Even a Porvette can be put back to stock as long as the pieces are retained. Since T has the interior bagged and in climate controlled storage, if he does the swap perhaps he'll see the value of just pickling the engine and holding on to it. I have all the original bits the PO deleted from my GTS, and I still have all the engine pieces, such as they are....

Its not rellevant if he could have done this better with a S4, he already did it with a GTS. Maybe he is getting the best of both worlds, handling of a Porsche with the power of a American V8. Either way, i'm interested in lots of pics.
I'm wondering what this does to the 50/50 weight.

I have a an old friend that works for GM that would allow me to purchase a brand new LS376/480 with the wiring harness and ECU for approx $ 7800. This also includes a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty. T

Yea this conversion will IMPROVE the weight distribution! The LS engine will save about 200# over the front of the car and that is where it NEEDS to be saved. The car will probably handle BETTER with this conversion. I also suggested that Tony do this but do it to an S4 vs. a GTS. Alas he does not have room for both and he already has the GTS. That said, if he can't sell the GTS motor the point is moot and I think he will be hanging on to that motor for the foreseeable future.

Thats really the beef, why mess up a low mileage GTS when you plan to repaint and replace the interior?
Best choice for a Chevy swap are the 78/79 CIS cars, hundreds of pounds less weight, no EFI to patch in, no sun roof, and pick one up anytime with a straight body and needs paint for $2k or less. Actually kind of gives me the itch to do one.

The Renegades conversion kit cost is approx $ 2000. Add in the LS376/480 at $ 7800. So thats $ 2000 kit + $ 7800 for the LS3, $ 1,000 for misc, and lets say $ 1500 for labor (I will be assisting) = approx $ 12,300. I am looking at gaining a new motor with approx 155 more hp power, a 3 year/100,000 warranty, 160 lb weight savings, slightly better fuel mileage for approx $ 2,300. After putting all of the time, effort and dollars into this car, we do plan on keeping this 928 for a very long time. T

Yea, it might take a bit over 10 hours to install that set up.

I'd much rather put one them new Coyote engines in a 928 than a Chevy:

That's $6999 and much easier for me to swallow under the 928 hood than a pushrod Chevy.

I estimate, according to guys who I have spoken with who have installed these kits on their 928's, approx 30-40 hours of labor. My mechanic will charge me $ 50 cash per hour, so tht's 30 hours x $ 50 = $ 1500. I will be assisting along with another 928 owner who wants to do the same conversion to his 928. We feel that we should be able to get it done in less than 30 hours with the 3 of us working on it, and it's only the pro-mechanic that will be getting paid. T
