You are not really anywhere close to selling a USED GTS engine at that kind of price....I mean really there is little GOOD about the GTS engine.... as for the Chevy conversions people do it to Jags, Mazdas, and just about every car on the planet. So go for it little new or contraversial at all.......

I can't tell you not to replace that motor, but I would recommend you keep it and not sell it.

That car will be worth big $$ someday, or junk without the GTS engine. You can put in an LS? and have your fun now, but later on still be able to put the original engine back in for the value of the car, of course 'IMHO'.

I can understand why you would want to do it. But please leave it alone and just buy a Vette or GTO to drive into the ground and leave the GTS alone.

If someone has a GTS with a "hurt" engine (like with TBF), they can't get close to fixing it for 12K....this doesn't seem like a bad price, especially for a '94 engine (assuming it has the "updated" rods.)

I hear that '77Tony came very close to committing suicide by pushing on Greg Nettles....which is never a good idea.....so he can't be the sharpest tool in the shed.

Perhaps he would be happier in the Camaro forum....someone buy this engine and let him move on.

Boost is your friend.....to an otherwise stock engine really..... Others boostards are over 500whp...some as high as 675whp!!

Just sold an 08 Corvette, and thats one of the reasons I want to do it. Less maintenance, more power, more mpg, (I was geting 27 hwy in the Vette vs 17mpg in the GTS) LS376/480 motor is 160 lbs lighter than OEM. I do worry about grenading the OEM motor with a timing belt issue, etc. Can paint the top of the motor same as the exterior, supporting the US economy, pisses off the purists who really are not that pure, etc, etc.

If the Corvette was so great, why did you sell it? Seems like it would have made much more sense to sell the GTS and keep the Corvette than what you're talking about now.

Curious if you said that about your old Vette or Merc or whatever...
I really dislike people saying that because, you know what? Life changes, sometimes rather quickly. And what you may consider right now to be top priority right now for this "lifer" may become the next best Craigslist ad for us to rip on.
Personally I don't care what you do with you ****. I just don't understand why you didn't choose an S4. You're taking away most that is interesting anyway.
And I think you are too quickly labelling realists as purists.
Clearly, it is ***** you have... common sense, not so much.

In all seriousness I think people should do what they want with their own cars. 15 years after the last one rolled off the line there is still no REAL shortage of 928's, which means the low prices invite messing with them.

My real question is if you want a Chevy motor, why would you let the selling price of your old motor weigh so much on your decision? Put the old motor on ebay and move forward with what you want. By the time you are done $12k one way or another won't make a lot of difference.

The ragging on price is mostly about timing. The ONLY time your motor is likely to sell for top dollar is when somebody just broke theirs and needs to fix or replace it. Pretty much nobody is going to pay top dollar to put a spare in their garage just in case. I don't recall how long its been since somebody has needed a GTS motor, but nothing comes to mind in the last couple of years.

And never once had to install Jegs/Summit trash to do it.
