I am looking to get mine painted too, but I really wanted to keep the orginiality of the car/color...
In respect to your car, how far are they going with the dismantiling of the car
I have come across where some shops simply paint over parts of car, only to flake off later..
If you dont mind me asking, what did it set you back?

I have been following Tony's repaint and I swear if you had that done in Austin, TX it would cost you $20k...that is if you could find anyone who would actually even touch it! Looks like doors, hood, complete interior strip, qtr glass at least, hatch and hood all removed! Really quite amazing and I can't wait to see the final results! Hoping it will be done and back together and ready to drive for the January 2nd Saturday gathering and that Tony will bring it up so we can all see the hard work that went in to it!
Like you Robert, I have a car I would like to have repainted too. Won't need to come apart like Tony's but probably front and rear bumper covers and qtr glass and best to take the door trim off and side windows. The amount of work my car would need would probably be HALF or LESS than what Tony is having done. If the price was half what Tony and I talked about this costing him I'd sent my car down there in a heart beat!

You thinking about painting that old 82 of your? If you think it is looking tired, I could take it off your hands for a couple of thousand, and save you the trouble of painting it.

Tim, I was just going to use a really nice paint brush and get after BLUE82...I have a hankerin' for green! I'm thinking SIGNAL GREEN! (I actually would LOVE a '91-'93 in signal green!)

Low spots
Windshield is now out of the car. Block sanded the roof today. Hopefully priming car tomorrow. Then it's onto paint, & several coats of clear. It's really starting to get exciting in anticipation of the new custom color. (Just Beachy-far left) T

It is going to be my FAV color when all done...BLUE!!! Though I prefer some other shades of blue, any blue is better than pretty much any other color!

You might want to fire it up right now and blow all of that sanding dust out of your HVAC system and into/onto your interior now, BEFORE you put the car back together and clean it all up. Unless you had the interior all taped off while the sanding was going on. And grab a new microfilter for the A/C duct if your '94 has one.

I'll hook the battery back up and run the HVAC. The interior of this 928 has been covered in plastic until now but not the dash. Some of that fine sanding dust like Rob says has worked its way into the ductwork. We took the plastic off yesterday and blew out most of the dust, and will recover with plastic before primer and paint, this time including the dash. Great tip Rob. T
