94 928 GTS Repaint & Delete
928 was driven over to Larry's Paint & Body in Rockport, TX late Tues afternoon, 11/9/10 for a complete, paint apart paint job. This paint will include same color door jams, underhood, inside rear hatch, etc. I did some serious research in a fairly wide radius and feel comfortable with my decision. The 17 year old paint was starting to show its age, along with various chips, scratches, etc. After seeing 50+ 928's at the 3rd Coast event this past weekend, my wife and I were even more convinced that we were about to change to a custom color of our choice. Porsche used to take on custom colors orders from customers back in the day, and a lot of these colors really look great. We feel we have had some cool 3-4 layer paint schemes in the past (pics below of a few of our old H.D.'s), so choosing just one color is a lot easier, especailly knowing the color we are after. Started dismantling the 928 today, so things are shakin. T&T

Hey Tony, Was great meeting you and Tambra at 3rd Coast. Something you might want to consider is performing a sun roof delete as I have done on my project car. It will give back almost two inches of headroom. I believe the panels are available still and not too expensive. As the reason to go with the aftermarket seats because of head clearance, this delete option might just be the thing to do.
Check out the thread on my project. There are ample pics and details -

As far as colors go, I rather think an eggplant (blackish with a dark violet hue) metallic would be an absolutely stunning color on a GTS.
Speaking of "delete options, please remember to have the side strips deleted. This will require a small bit of welding on the front fenders, doors and the front bit of the rear quarter panel to fill in the attachment holes. Many others also delete the headlight washer nozzle holes on the front bumper covers as well as the license plate holes.
There are lots of opinions on what looks good on a GTS.

Dan, That should cover it. DC-This should be good.. Dan, Also great to meet you at the 3rd Coast. Already deleted: Rear seat, rear A/C, OEM sound system, rear wiper & motor, and of course, my brain. To be deleted: Side marker lights, rub strips, front headlight washers & motor, sunroof, door locks, possibly the rear bumperettes, etc. Also swapping out the GTS rear red reflective strip bumper for a preferred S4 Rear Bumper. Also painting the blinkers red. Egplant-yummie, Red-cop magnet. T
