I looked for a pic but couldn't find one...but its pretty easy..just mix up a batch of Jb weld...and apply it around the edge....It will smooth out as you apply it..(don't use too much of a lip as the boot is hard to get over it).. It doesn't have to be perfect..and it likely doesn't even need to be all the way around..just a few spots around it to create just enough of a lip.

Default JB Weld and wrapping the pipes

If you apply the JB weld to the MAF, you can use a toothpic or other small item and just gently "paint" it on. Put on too much and it gets a little messy....practice on a water bottle or piece of pipe or something until you get the consistency and hang of it...also, make sure that you inspect these occasionally and especially as you take the boot on or off (if it is popping off), as the tightening action repeatedly can cause the JB Weld to crack here and there, and could end up down in the throttle body intake....not so good.

The exhaust pipes included with the kit are stainless...wrapping shouldn't be an issue.

I can't see risking my 5 to 10K Turbo/Blower investment on a chunk of JB Weld getting sucked into the engine. Find a machine shop and get it cut.

Hey John, kit is coming together nicely.

What is the general consensus on wrapping the cat? Should this be left un-wrapped in order to prevent over heating the cat? Or is wrapping this OK to?

Mike,
You would NOT want to wrap the cat. It would get way too hot.

Just an FYI.. I'm still running that same MAF in my GT and it's been on and off the car so many time's I've lost count . No issues whatsoever... Don't gob it on there and you'll be good to go.. .. and the fact that you've got screens on the MAF too...makes for a moot point

People fill intake port floors with JB Weld, so this stuff is probably pretty stable compared to aluminum. That said, Soupcans MAF looks so pretty that I am leaning towards machining the groove.

Tonight, I will search the depths of internet for some spring-loaded clamps that have the right bandwidth. Here are some candidates:

Aero-Seal Breeze Constant-Torque CT-9452
Heavy-duty Breeze Constant-Torque CT 400 L SS
Heavy-duty Breeze Constant-Torque CT 450 L SS
Spring-Loaded T-Bolt B9226-0363
Spring-Loaded T-Bolt B9226-0375
Spring-Loaded T-Bolt B9226-0406

Breeze clamps

Love reading about turbo 928s. Don't wrap the cat. I have the STS kit on my GTO for 4+ years now. I have the header wrap past the cats to the turbo. It really does work, a few hundred rpm's sooner spool-up.

UPdate,

I managed to get a piece of metal in my eye last night so I didn't get as far as I wanted to. Had to go to the Opthalmologist today and he fixed me up.

The old exhaust is now un-bolted and all fo the new hot side piping from the Y-pipe back to the turbo is now bolted in place. It fit perfectly. The V-band clamps are fantastic. This should be industry standard.

I will put on some safety glasses and get back to work today.

Default Justin who?

Can't thank Justin enough for dropping by and lending a hand. Even though the fitment has been perfect, the help has been great.

Here is Justin pre and post inspection......
