If you watch my helmet as I go faster, you can get a sense of how bumpy and uneven the surface is.
I kept testing the traction limits throughout the run - I spun the tires 5 times I counted but can only hear it 3 times in the video. Each time you modulate the throttle and go back at it again. You dare not snap out of the throttle unless you want to bring the *** around in a hurry!
I was still accelerating at the end of 5 miles... nursing the accelerator for every bit I could get of thrust off the salt. I have an appointment at a wind tunnel in NC in November - I hope to find more rear downforce so maybe I can go back at it again.

That's really cool, but also really crazy. I understand using the salt flats for rocket or jet powered land speed records, but anything that is powered by the wheels should be run on smooth flat concrete/tarmac. I wonder if they could pave a highway there for this to make it safer.

I have to agree. Racing wheel-driven cars on salt is nuts. Buts its legacy. And if you want to break a Bonneville Land Speed Record, you are commited to doing it on the salt.
With respect to Susan Kirby and her 1994 205 MPH run (very impressive) on asphalt, I would LOVE to let this car go for it on a long stretch of road. I was at 5720 RPM at 216 MPH. Just coming into my power band and with almost 1300 rpm to go before redline. Without tire slip, speeds of 250+ MPH should be possible. Once I get a Cd measurement, I will know a more exact number.

Well, Carl, I'm positive the Silver State Classic group would love to see you try for 250 trap speed. And the record for covering the 90 mile course is only around 207 MPH average. How big is your fuel cell?
