Radically re-designed console (Carputer, Climate, and one-touch windows)

I may have spoke to soon on the rear temp control. After looking at it again this morning, it is running in a voltage divider mode, vs rehostat mode in the climate head... which is much more difficult to emulate.
Show of hands - who wants this to go out to production now, without complete rear AC control. I can include a rear AC extension harness to relocate the ***** to the driverside hadbrake cover as originally planned. I can also include support for basic Rear AC integration, where it will come on with the highest fanspeed and coldest temp in tandem with the max-cool position (again, as originally discussed).
Thanks
Hans

I would vote for the rear A/C to operate in conjunction with max fan speed and recirc, the only time I ever use it is on 100o days to rapidly cool the interior. No need to kill yourself emulating voltage divider mode, whatever that is, LOL.

I would vote for with integration with the Max cool setting. I hate to lose functionality altogether and the handbrake extension idea seems like a poor cosmetic solution. Also no need to kill yourself trying to make it perfect as those of us with rear AC are a small segment of any already small market.

Same for me. Max AC/Fan should automatically turn on the rear AC

Looks like the Max-Cool rear AC integration wins. Rear AC can still be manually adjusted via the stock *****, and they can be relocated wherever.
Finalizing the design then now. Sorry to get your guys hopes up on the integrated complete rear AC control. There may be a glimmer of hope. Found a digital pot which *could* work. Its a tad underspec for the application... which I am not thrilled about. I may order one and try it. The discrete solution is a known stable option, and while very Rube Goldberg, allows me to control the power handling of the "pot". If there is an EE in the house that want to check out the potential digital pot replacement, here is the link:
http://www.analog.com/en/digital-to-...s/product.html
There can always be a hardware revision, as the microcontroller core is socketed, and the display is separate, it allows for a physical hardware upgrade at a reduced expense. I am thinking it time to release hardware V1.0 now, and get consoles out.
Thanks

My input is that you need to add things to the car, not take them away.
You need to be able to control the rear ac, and I am not a fan of having to relocate things.
I would rather wait until it can be done from the Carputer.

I just came across this very interesting rennlist discussion.
I wonder whether any thoughts have been given to install an iPad in the center console and to use the iPad with the appropriate app interface and sensors to control the AC and other functions of the car. An iPad would offer unmatched flexibility. (iPads already had been used in aviation as the glass panel display for displaying engine, flight, and navigation information. http://goo.gl/Ernv2)
The touch sensitive interface would negate the need to use any physical switches.
