I am really interested but a little leary of price, I am just getting my head gasket replaced after a year or so of not driving.

I was going to have them replace a few things while they where in there, controls and what not but now would love this item to take their place.

Proof the boards actually exist. There are significant copper pours on the boards for larger system buses, like +12v, +5v, Ground... etc, so you cant see all the traces on the bottom layer. If anyone really cares, I can clear the pours, or turn-off the top layer.

PDFs are to scale, so if you save them, you can see the actual size of the boards.

The "Breakout Module" would just expend the spare outputs into an easier format to interface than the raw ribbon. There are 16 spare outputs on the primary controller - four of which are used by the Rear AC module if it is used. There are some spare I/O channels on the faceplate as well, but I designed it earlier, so they are just on a pin-header, and do not pass through to the controller. Its possible that I may pass these back to the controller, but its getting tight, so likely will leave it be.

In short, the breakout board would just take the IDC40 ribbon, and split it out to 0.25" male Faston tabs, or something similar.

The system theoretically is capable of doing whatever someone programs it to do, but the LCD itself does consume a lot of resources. I am not sure you want to route a bunch of non-related functions through the system. However, as it is open source, you can certainly try and just reflash it back to stock if you run into any issues.

I'm sure the software end is limited only by one's creativity. My question was more related to hardware connectivity. That said, when you said the LCD already consumes a lot of resources, were you referring to system memory?

I was referring to climate control portion, and it's corresponding LCD. The carputer portion is absolutely limitless, and very easy to interface things like radar, bluetooth, homelink... Etc.

I am still a bit ignorant of what we will need to supply for the carputer end of this.

So if I have this right, the motherboard, the HDD, processor, memory, operating system and the power supply will be left up to us?

I assume that there will be a recommended products list.

One last thing, got any pics of what the finished product may look like from the outside, or will it be so close to the demo units as to not matter?
