New equal length 1.75" SS 32V headers-now ready for prime time

Yea I forgot the "universal" DEVEK headers had a slip fit flange for the offset side.

All issues of pretty and increased power aside, I think the take-home from this exercise is how incredibly freaking hard it is to put together a 928 exhaust system that bolts on without any issues. I listed all the clearancing issues that we had because it illustrates how hard it is to fit an exhaust that fill the design constraints of being equal legnth 1.75" primaries that still allow the belly pans to fit. This was the third system built and the first pulled off of the header and catback jigs. Greg was making fitment notes that should address the clearance issues we had. William's system had no such issues because Greg sent the car to the fabricator to custom fit each tube onto it. I don't even want to think of how much time that took. It's one thing to build tubes that fit on a motor on a stand bolted to a crossmember with heat shields, it's altogether a different issue to do it with the engine in the car.
Also, the catback fits perfectly at every point- with the collector springs installed, the collector flanges mated perfectly to the H-X pipe, the bolt holes were spot on and the flange faces were perfectly parallel. Dunno how they managed that....
Joe- As soon as the soccer/gymnastics fates smile on me, I'll be at C&C and we can go scare ourselves silly.

Nice work, and I know it was real work. I hope the smog natzis don't notice those beautiful headers and tag the car in the system. I have permanent scars from helping another local 928er swap his stock manifolds back on in place of some headers, engine in situ, when he got a visual fail.

I've got an engine hoist bar and a willingness to lie on my back in the garage for fun. Wouldn't be the end of the world, though I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Actually, William's pipes had more clearance issues than these. These are the improved version. The 5 second hit on the motor mount bracket edge and the minor trim on the heat shield don't bother me, this stuff is going to vary from car to car. I'd like to get a handle on the bell housing cover, though. That's a bit more complex. I've got a feeling that this might vary from casting to casting, however.

Again really nice work!
Rob, are those coated on the inside as well?
As for price- its nowhere close to the $10k system the GT3 guys are buying from Akrapovic...in fact, they are getting hammered, considering their sauce is weak with only six pipes, and they only have to go about a foot to reach the back of the car.....
where's the "duck behind the wall" icon....
