IIRC, Jag XK, are some of the most unreliable cars of that era.

Joe,

If you click on "go advanced" you will be able to post a pic. A small window will open up and there will be a "browse" button. Click on that and you will be able to choose a picture that is somewhere on your computer. You will have to no where it is and direct the browser to it. Then click upload. You can't upload big picture files though so don't pick some big file or you will get an error message, but you can post much bigger pics than your avatar this way.

As to the XK being unreliable. I was under the impression it was the first of the RELIABLE Jags! The XJ still had enough B-L parts in it so that it was not great, but the XK was mostly Ford... I could be wrong, I have never owned one and never been good friends with an owner... I'd like to own one now that I see the prices though! Can't be as bad as an E-type on the reliability front!

Hey, my '79 does that. First time it happened was at the MGM Grand parking structure in Vegas. Doesn't happen often, it takes some acoustics and the engine at the right RPM, but it does do it.

NSX would be an excellent choice too. Very well built and reliable. Highly recommended. My 1994 and 2001 hardtop coupes.

The biggest difference between the two communities, in my opinion, is the size. There were far fewer Esprits manufactured than 928s. That means finding parts can be more of a challenge. However, if you're comfortable in a 928 engine bay, then you shouldn't worry about wrenching on an Esprit. Here's a picture of my S4s:
Droooooool. I want a 1990 in red over tan. Yellow looks very nice too. Why so few in British Racing Green? hmmmmmm

Ok, I spent some time on Autotrader looking at exotics and there are definitely some serious dream cars available for very short money!

The 2000 and newer Esprit's are soo tempting. For those that have or have driven the later V8 Esprit's, how do they compare regarding handling and acceleration compared to the 928? Do they tire you out or are they decent for longer distances?

This Ferrari almost has me ready to sell the GT but I can't bring myself to do it.

With that Ferrari 348 you will be looking at $8K to $15K services every five years.
Engine must come out to replace timing belts...

Yeah I would anticipate spending about $10K every 10K miles but I wouldn't put that many miles on it and I would only consider one if the T-Belt was done recently. I understand that with exception to the maintenance Ferrari's are fairly reliable.

That may be the only good looking 348 out there... Man the coupes are UGLY! That is why they are cheap. I think the Mondial looks better than the 348 in either coupe or spider form!

I want a 360 spider BAD though! I think the 360 (especially with a subtle chin spoiler) is the best looking Ferrari since the 512bbi and 288 GTO (that we never officially got in the US). The 599 is pretty hot too...but I still like the 360 better and frankly the 456 is a very nice looking car too and can be had for GTS money or a touch more.

Yep, that's a killer. Stupid design to force engine removal for a timing belt job. I did the belts on 308s and Mondials in a few hours.

I like the NSX, but they are pretty hard for me to get in to from my wheelchair. I tried a year or so after I was injured and couldn't do it then. I could probably do it now, but it would still not be easy, not to mention no room for a wheelchair once I were to get in! I LOVE the way they look though! Saw one in Round Rock a couple of weeks ago (red) and man it STILL looks good!

A friend recently sold his 348 spyder, (1994)he had it about 2 years.Bought it for $39k He ended up spending around $10k in maintenance in that time period. He sold it for $27k, It was yellow/black(which may have hurt the value) with custom 3pc. wheels. Which he spent around $3k for. If you want a Ferrari for low entry price the 348 seems to be the way to go. Especially when they can be had in the mid to high 20k range with maintenance up to date.

Wow that's a big drop in a very short period.

Honestly I probably wouldn't consider a Ferrari unless it was a Testarossa. It is one of my dream cars and for me would be worth the cost and maintenance. Just can't swing it yet and I still don't want to sell the 928 which makes it that much less attainable.

I really like the 348/355 body design. it is my favorite 8 cyl fcar look. I also like the NSX body.

But why would you want either over a good 928. I can tell you from real world experience that neither the 348 nor the Acura can beat a good 85 Euro. And to top it off the 348 interior is kind of primitive.

So there's another irony of 928 ownership, 928 is better looking (my opinion) and performs better than both (my actual experience) yet is priced way cheaper.

Black 348 is very nice, low and wide
