Did I lose them, or: I never had them?

The rear head seals where the cam journals are - they are rubber pieces with shafts that stick out radially.
Does a standard seal kit for a 32V engine come with these? Or does it not?
I thought I had them. I may have. But I am no longer sure since the seal kit was purchased in 2003.

Sitting in a box? Probably a very long time.

I dont recall ever seeing these block off plugs in a engine seal kit.
That said there are updated parts that are just rods about 27 mm long that have an end turned down to fit into the oil feed hole the cam cap holds the other end in place. If you have the old style round rubber with pin then these should be swapped out to the new pin design

Yep, the part you're talking about was superceded by 928 105 262 00 - there's a technical bulletin about it somewhere.
The original-style rubber bit with the radial spike can warp and fall out of place, causing a drop in oil pressure as the journal is uncovered.

Well there it is. Thanks guys. I did remember the thread about the shafts, but I thought THAT was the superceded part - the rubber stuff. So no more rubber plug - just the shaft itself.
Interesting. Well - I think now I know I don't have either.

FWIW, they do not come with the commonly distributer "full" gasket set.
The rubber versions with the protruding pin are NLA, but the later style that's a shouldered pin is still available.
Good luck trying to find yours if they are buried...

Everything was buried. But we movied, so everything was basically excavated and repackaged for the move (see my thread mentioning the carts I got for each engine). So most of my stuff was re-organized. I had a few casualties.
But I did have the entire seal set - I just thought maybe I misplaced it much earlier.

I see, My '85 must have had these replaced before I bought it as they were already the new parts. Also, the gasket set I got when I bought the car, with the broken t-belt, did include a new cap set too but I got this off ebay. It was made by Victor Reinz but I don't know if the seller put it together or if it was a manufactured kit.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

You guys do realize that you are talking about two completely different kinds of cam seals, right?
Some of you appear to be talking about sealing the external cam bore holes in the front and back of the cylinder heads, and some appear to be talking about the pins that plug the unused oil holes in the cam bearing saddles...
