I always get a laugh when I read the 'purists' who think a car, any car, has to be 100% anything. They aren't. All kinds of parts are purchased from other vendors, from pistons to wheel bearings to seats. No car is 'all' anything. None. That said, looking for more power from less money is every racer's pursuit. Sure, if you have a nice sponsor maybe you can talk them into putting more money into a car than you would yourself to remain 'pure', but to what end? Same result. Remember, when you get to the top of racing, it's all a mix anyway. F1 other than Ferrari, all use some other combination of vendors to supply the various engines, parts,etc.. So go ahead, Ricerschnitzel, you're in very good company. The rest are all just jealous of your courage to go where few go before. I don't know exactly what would fit into the snout of a 928; but being a former Ford man, I've always wondered about either a 351 Cleveland with those exotic 4bbl inline autolite carbs they used for the Trans Am (they made two kinds, 800 cu ft/min and a 1400 model!), or maybe with a boss 429 with the hemi heads.
It's what dreams are made of. I'm sure there are mopar guys who wonder what a nice big Chrysler hemi would be like in a car that handles like a 928.

The four valve 928 is the biggest gas motor I have ever had on my motor stand.
I can not imagine any regular production V8 motor that would not fit in that hole as far as width goes.

Default Stroker

Ricer,
You won't be sorry about the choice you made. Not only did it make economic sense, but long term your options will be unlimited.

Some how I ended-up, through multiple hands, with a set of flycut 928 pistons with rings that originated with him.

They were not decarbonized, so I wonder if its the same set as in his pictures -- maybe he had two sets.

Wondering if they are functional.

He disappeared, so can't ask him.

I believe he got the fly-cut patterns from Kibort. Maybe send him a PM.

Didn't he have some major problems or worries with his job and relationship. Stuff like that can be hard to recover from. Hope its better than I think.

He is till around, and well last time we talked. I think we all get busy with real life now and then, and cyclically come back here when things smooth out.
