On the <'90 cars you can connect the illumination directtly to the switch power connectons: Brown & Red wires on the window switches.

I don't really see any need to dim these (e.g. the mirror mem switch illumination does not dim), In this config they will be on whenever the car ignition is on - and until you open a door (all the time the windows are active - seems appropriate).

This does not work the same on the later cars...

Once you take those switches a part I didn't think it was humanly possible to put them back together...

Most likely, however I can wait for a set. My shark will be having some "surgery" this winter so no hurry!

Just a quick update. I will try to post some instructions this weekend. The creator/maker of the switches is sick at home right now and needs a little rest. He thinks he will be good to go this weekend again...

Sweet. I like this. I assume the white is a "cool white" LED color. I also like the hatch switch idea...didn't know about that one.

I just brought in an intial 10 sets and had to decide at that point what variation.

Remove and replace the switch cover and run some small diamter wiring back to a source, permantent or switched. Comes complete with the light source and wiring.

Will be fitting a set to my GTS asap.

So each switch needs a separate power source to illuminate it?

For those who want to blank off two locations, a square plate came on non-sunroof 78(and probably others that had the wiper switch in the pod) that takes up two switch positions with one part:

The window switches are simple without many parts to go flying everywhere. It's the seat switches that are a bitch to get back together, IMO.
