Hello Mark, I'm glad you are OK after that. I was a little shocked to see the car that way. I have grown fond of it and yourself over the time I've been amongst the 928 folks here, and the car creates such a great tallking point for us from it's time on the track. I hope you can get back out there with soon.
Cheers,
Glenn

the good news is Mark is okay......any car (even the holbert car) is replaceable......sure it hurts...but Mark will race again in a 928....its just a matter of time...I can see Mark racing the widow in some enduros in the future.....
If the frame is "saveable" (I don't know)...then it makes things easier....or what about cutting the whole front end off and welding in a new front? Is that possible, or would it be too weak?

WOW..glad your OK Mark, but what sad thing to see probably one of the more famous 928s in the world go to the scrap pile. At least it was on the track in the "spirit" of the car and not at a stop light on the way to the track or something.

A very sad day in the 928 community and one that we all hoped not to see.
The fact that Kibort is ok is the important part. The car might be a one of a kind automobile, but the human that drives it is much more important.

Mark, very glad you and the other driver are OK.
Because you were NOT wearing your HANS (not sure why....), I strongly urge you to get checked out by competent medical professionals ASAP.

Mark, glad to hear you're okay!
Erik called me while on vacation and told me about this. Before I could even ask he told me you were okay but the car, not so good.
Cars can be replaced......

Thank God you walked away from it Mark. At the end of a tragic day, that's all that matters.
I hope you take Mark's S4. I said in another thread to take the engine and transmission out of the Holbert car and put it in the next one. I feel that's the soul of that car afterall. A pan is just a pan. Good luck and God Bless. Let us know more on your condition as you find out. Saying a prayer for you..

Mark,
Damn, sorry to hear about your incident. I'm glad you are OK. It looks like the car absorbed a LOT of energy. I'm sure that you feel a great loss considering all of the sweat equity that you have put into your car. I hope that you make a FULL and SPEEDY recovery. Pace yourself a little and take care.
Best thoughts,
Ken

Me and my son came out to see you guys race on Sunday in my black 928, and right as I get to the stands I see you go by the grand stands then as I look to see you coming out of turn 9 I believe, I see the civic coming, go sideways and plow straight into you, I was glad to see that you were ok, and somewhat angry to see that a civic off the streets, with license plate and full interior, was running in your class let alone destroy your car.
Best wishes on the rebuild, Steve

I was away all weekend and w/o Net access until just a minute ago. I just saw this thread. I'm overjoyed Mark is OK. Still, looking at those pictures made me feel sick. It's like I lost a close relative or a heroic figure in my life. I know Mark is doing his best to cope by saying "That's racing." But I know how upset he must be. The Holbert car is gone. A historic car for us 928 fans. I was so very impressed and pleased to see the way Mark resurrected this car and honored it by putting it to work. His pride in the car was obvious. He put so much of himself into this car. I'm just sick.
Of course, I'm very happy to see how the car protected Mark. But I'm sick anyway.
Mark, I hope you're completely OK physically (I need to read the rest of the thread), but this has got to hurt emotionally.
