Default Call me a NOOB, but WTF is the fighting all about?

Whats up between you guys and the 944 people?

I've seen threads about your engine not being good (I thought it was just both halves of our 2.5?). Threads about your suspension not being as good as the 944s.....etc.

I'm not trying to start anything, I just don't understand.

Where are you looking? We are all one happy family as far as most of us know.

Butfuk the 944's they are slow.

Oddly enough, I ran into a 944/968 owner at the FishWife restaurant in Monterey tonight. He said he "enjoyed" poking fun back and forth

...aren't we a sick and demented automotive species?

I don't have any problems w/ the 944 guys... Like the looks of the cars...always have. Just not as much room or as fast and comfortable as a 928... They are very nice on track though and the Turbo cars can be tuned to make HUGE POWER easily...

Let me rephrase LOL

I know next to nothing about the 928. I've read the wikipedia page, but what are the main points? Do they handle well? Same timing belt issues as the 944? Can you give them forced induction? How much power can be made from the NA engine?

.... Just fill me in, I'm curious. I DO like the look of the 928, but could never give up my 44. Maybe my car needs a big sister.....

Huh? Ok that's weird. I get the cylinder envy versus the fat and lazy stuff and the pimply kid versus the doctor's wife stuff.

But, suspension? Didn't the 944 have a torsion bar setup that is usually disconnected, removed and replaced for any serious applications? While the 928 has an adjustable coil-over setup out-of-the-box?

Seriously. I'm confused as I've never seen that particular argument. Or is it an anti-Weisach rear axle deal?

I'm not trying to start anything, I just don't understand.
Me neither.

They handle reasonably well [50/50 weight]. Can be made to handle better with upgrades. 16v motor is non-interference, but TB is still an issue. 32v is interference, TB is a HUGE issue. Forced induction is available from several sources. Superchargers are most common, several turbo kits becoming available again. How much power??? LOTS. Louie Ott dyno'd his monster at 595RWHP... normally aspirated! Long story short, the 928 is a really fun platform that leaves substantial of room for even more fun.

???????????????????

Having been a previous 944 owner and now 928 owner there seemed to be more slights from the 944 crowd towards the 928 folks. There are more jabs thrown towards the rear engined crowd from this forum.

944's seek higher performance output through turbos, here mostly superchargers/stroking. Maybe more friction from the racing side of things.

Can the 928 be a capable track car like the 944, or is more for cruising?

The 928 has adjustable coilovers right out of the box??? On all 4 corners?

Maybe its not a "big deal" I just did a general search of 928 posts, and a lot of "good humored bashing" came up.

There are a couple 928's for sale here. Maybe I'll go test drive one.

Pure boulevard cruising only. You'd have to be crazy to try to race one of these things. A few are. But I do enjoy cruising at 165+.

Nearly all problems with 928s can be traced to not driving the car often or hard enough. Mine seems to be getting stronger.
