Although you didn't do anything legally wrong, I'd like to see you go turn some wrenches as needed.

Cumbaya and all that, but it's a good lesson. A buyer thought he was getting a super deal. It turned out to be not so. Trust but verify. Mike and I have tried to do a deal, and I think he's straight up in his dealings.

Blythe, oye - man, you've been the victim of your own foibles. It's a shame that your financial situation has put you here. I think you've done the best you can, with the situation as given, but really, go turn a few wrenches in the August heat.

I've been involved in some of that used car, and used car parts things before. In CA, if you want to sue someone in small claims court your chances of verdict are very, very good. Your probability of recovering any money are very, very poor. I'm sure that Steve wouldn't even bother to show up and defend the suit. But you can't get money from an onion, so what's the point?

The point is the courts can garnish his wages, a lien can be put against him, all loan financial dealings will show an outstanding lien, etc. He will ultimately have to square up on it. Not much work and the frustration is all his from verdict on out. There is something thereuptic about the small claims process in something like this anyway. Even if you never recover a cent it is a positive way to feel that at least justice has been served.

Legally "steven" may have committed no crime, took some parts off a car that was legally in his possession to do as he pleased with. Depending on the nature of whatever agreement they had, which would have to be in writing, maybe some civil recourse, but what about repossessing the removed parts?

No need. Just take off everything from front end of crank and check what it looks like. GTS is different than '78-91 versions.

I spoke to Mark this morning, I am trying to plan a GTG for a suspension/brake swap. Hoping to have it at 928Intl. When a date has been set, I will post it.

I called Mark yesterday and asked for a list of the people who contributed, but was told that they wish to remain anonymous....

1. you sold the car to someone you didnt know and TOOK PAYMENTS
2. you then woudlnt let him put the car in his name becasue he owed you money. WTF woudl you have done if he would have hit and killed someone? You can Lein a car for very little extra cost when you register it.
3. You are either a REALLY nice guy or a complete IDIOT, maybe a little of both. And I say that with due respect. but COME ON... That was REALLY a BONEHEAD MOVE....

You have to still be banging your head against the wall on this one. Holy crap.

And, at one point, this thread looked like it was going to have a happy ending.
