Want more HP....pick your poison....

1: More displacement
2: More RPM
3: Boost

Better airflow through a given engine does help, in some cases quite a bit...but the bottom line is if you want BIG power.....you need BIG amounts of one of the three above....

I'd say the top two issues are $$$ and flow, with flow having half a dozen sub issues. I forget where I read it, but going by area the theory is that 4v has a 5% flow advantage over 2v. The $$$ differences are a LOT more in your face, basically twice the parts, and maybe more than twice the cost.

I Think we are limited mostly by the stock intake system, but I don't see a lot of HP, maybe another 10% or so.

With something like a 7200 rpm redline I don't see a 5.0L 928 2v motor exceeding 350 rwhp. The main reason I doubt we will see higher is that a 5.0L Mustang with excellent ported heads, all the cam and lift you want, etc. hits a pretty firm wall around 335 rwhp with a similar rpm limit.

The ONLY thing you need is more airflow through the engine!

Whether this is created by more displacement, more RPMs or boost

As Keith Duckworth put it: "horsepower is the size of the bang, times the number of bangs per minute"

Personally I prefer Boost, as I don't need to mess with the basic parameters of the original engine.

Cheers Roy

Actually with a flat hp curve, the torque is going down, so its really pulling less after peak torque as speed goes up. (even though you could shift into the next gear, and have even less "pull" ) In fact, most of the hp is available on either side of the hp peak, as the hp is going down, torque is really going down, yet it still pays to shift past max hp in most cases. To maximize acceleration , you maximize HP.

I will say, it sure sounds good to shift near redline though

When I drive I spend a lot of time in those high ranges and it has always seemed fine.

Another 1000-1200 rpms does not sound like that big a deal and wouldn't this cure the oiling issue you are referring too. https://rennlist.com/forums/4962919-post47.html

would this set up work on a 5L bottom end with the pistons cut for Euro 4.7 standard valves? what about for a little boost?
