Jim,
The State Bar of Texas has a referral service that is free with an 800 number to boot. You just have to tell them where you need the service and what kind of service you need. If they have an attorney that handles the kind of service you need, they provide the attorney's telephone number, etc. The attorney will charge you $20 for the first consultation which is then deducted from the overall fee.

I will track down the number for you and post it here.

DO NOT ASK ME HOW I KNOW!!

Jim,
The number for the State Bar of Texas referral service is 800-252-9690.

Something else that has has worked before is to call the judge directly and ask for a deferred adjudication. It is not likely that you are gonna be back that way any time soon enough to violate any terms that they set, so it's kinda like you pay your money for the violation and after a set time has passed, it never even happened.

John, THANKS for that advice. I called the clerk of the court and asked about options. "Deferred disposition" was available, an extra $50 over the fine and clean after 90 days.
