No - mine still has 1 relay due to the loading issue, but it does preserve the hatch interlock via the relay.

Its in one of the earlier diagrams posted - but does require a wire across the car from the hatch pull. Its a trade off of more electronics or more wiring

Jeff: If you can uncover the installation and show us how he wired it, maybe we can figure out how to best address this. If you can find the alarm box behind that little carpeted panel next to the outside of the glovebox, you could run a wire to pin A (Br/Bl wire) from the keyless modules hatch trigger to allow you to pop the hatch w/o the alarm tripping.

I'll look and trace the wires and let you know. Then I can describe what he did. I have to go back there today for my Acura's DVD Player. It pull out of the ceiling when the kids were messing around.

Jeff,
I think he just missed out the diode from the hatch unlock output of the KE to the alarm suspend (late alarm type) or door unlock/disarm (early alarm type).

It will be easy to rectify - But I hope you don't find anything unexpected.

Yes, I found this somewhat amusing.

Yes, even though I am electrically challenged, it was funny to me too.

Bill's circuit diagram (for '90 S4/GT) is wired, such that it causes the alarm to disarm and unlock the side doors when the hatch is released with the trunk button being is pressed.

The 'suspend' mode is only on '91+ cars which have the integrated alarm controller.

If possible, I'd like to rectify my situation as well.

Here’s my dilemma… I've had the Commando KE-30 sitting on my shelf since about the same time Randy started asking for help back in 2005 2005 (https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ml#post2628229)

With OCIC coming up, I’m motivated to get this installed and promise to take pictures to document the process. After reading a half dozen or more threads on the topic (again), I’m not real sure what schematic to use for a 1987.

Following are a few choices:

The old tried and true two relay and a handful of diodes

The rear transistor using existing wires config plus one wire

The double pole hatch relay upfront w/o horn relay

In my situation, I’ve already ‘roughed in’ 4 wires from passenger hatch switch to the rear and can add whatever wires I need up front. Between three new gauges, an audio processor, flat panel and express window controllers, real-estate inside the console is pretty scarce. Not that location really matters, but in this case the controller will be located under the passenger hatch switch.

Alan, Bill, Ed, Borland…. what would you recommend?

Also, are the 1987's the same as 1988-90?

Still looking for a little help one this. Doing the console wiring tomorrow.

I'm mainly concerned with getting the locks working... flashing lights/beeping horn would be a bonus. I'm not sure my early 87 has an alarm module. It won't start if doors are locked with key, but other than that no honking or flashing.

I know this is the central locking module... so that part shouldn't be too difficult. Splice and match to schematic:

I don't have the spinal flexibility nor the vision to see what's hooked up to this metal box. Is this the alarm module?

If not, does anyone have a picture of the old style alarm module?

I don't see anything over here besides the CE, LH, EZK and Lamp Bulb Module.
