Default NEW Seat Design from Champagne Leather *UPDATED*

Hello all,

some of you might remember a set of Boxster seats I showed a while back. They served as my first platform for a traditional design adaptation I was working on.

This is the traditional quilted diamond design, adapted to our 928 seats.

When done well, quilted diamond panels create a comfortable, aerated seating surface, that is in fact, the precursor of the modern ventilated seat. It will serve as the basis for an active cooling seat kit I am working on.

But not all diamonds are created equal, so if you want to learn more about this technique, also found on Bentley, Aston Martin, Ferrari and most other high end marques, please visit this link: http://www.designpaulchampagne.com/Diamonds.html

This particular project started with a fairly good set of S4 seat:

Covers were not fitting properly, probably because of a prior repair attempt, and the driver's side bolster showed the usual wear. But a very good set.

Once I was done, the set looked like this:

The seats were converted to sport while keeping all the functions of the originals, including heaters on both sides and lumbar on the driver's side.

I tried to integrate the time honored quilted diamond pattern, while keeping some of the elements that make the 928 inserts so distinctive.
So, separate pads and the double stitched valleys are still present at the beginning and at the end.

Thanks for looking, and there are other detailed pictures on the website for those interested.

Paul

Those are seriously hot. I wish my car was nice enough to deserve something like that.

Paul,

Do you plan on using this design for the door panels, sides of the center console, and possibly the knee shelves? I think that would look killer!

That is the plan Marc,

that is usually what I try to do with custom insert designs, in an effort to tie in the whole. Both the engraved Pascha and engraved script designs, also have door inserts and other components.

Hey Ryan,

I think I can manage

I did a few 986 seat already, which have a similar construction. The newer generation of seats are not that difficult to work on.

Everytime I buy a lottery ticket and imagine my winners wish list one of the top ten is: Drop car off at Champagne's place and ask him to redo everything....

Beautiful. Wish I could justify the cost. Of course then I'd have seats worth more than the car...

Just when I'd gotten over my last bout of interior inadequacy from your last post, you do THIS.

Nice Paul I always enjoy looking at your work. It confounds me how you can nail the seams in the manner that you do, they are always arrow-straight and pucker free, and the padded portions always have the perfect proportions, never bloated looking or skimpy. It really is like looking at fine sculpture - soft, supple, great smelling - fine sculpture.
