Default SCCA ITE RACE at Thunderhill This Weekend 10-25-08

We race at 2:00 on Saturday, with qualifying on Friday.

This is the last race of the season. I am leading the championship points by only 2.

Its been a real close points race all season long.

Whoever wins this race, wins the season trophy.

I guess we will see how that Rennlist motor does when it counts.

I have been planning to go up for the race, arriving around 12:30. Anyone else? Let's cheer Mark on.

Good luck, Mark. You've got the skill and the engine.

Anybody go to the race? Dying to know if Mark was able to hold off Rylan's pesky little honda for the title.

Hi Guys, Mark put up a valiant effort passing Rylan in the Honda first turn, first lap, and held him off for two laps until Rylan got him on the outside of turn three on lap three. Mark was able to press him after the pass until his alternator gave out and Mark was forced to pull off track. Sad way to lose the championship but nothing he could do about it. Mark made no mistakes this weekend qualifing on the front row then making Rylan work for his championship. I finished fourth in the race. I want to thank Mark for helping keep my car running this season. He is soely responsible for keeping my car on track despite an uncooperative clutch. Saturday's race was a double points race, so with Mark not finishing, Bobcat's pumped RX-7 was able to steal 2nd in the championship from Mark. I finished the season 7th in the championship.

Yeah sucks that mark had the failure. He went from first to third in one race. Same thing happened to me in the last race of last season. Tho it was a hub failure for me.

Here's my vid from the weekend.

Great weekend, right up until the point where a microgram of copper in the alternator, failed.

Ran a good qual, ran 2:00.0 to take the second spot behind rylan in the SC S2000. Interesting that the comp coup, WC GT C6 vet and 3 panos were behind us. With the new short block, I knew i could take the lead, but unsure how long i could hold it as Rylan had over a second faster lap time. But, knowing that the car is very consistant and the tires last an entire race (and having new brakes) I was up for the battle. Unfortunately, we had an early 3 lap full course caution period, then, on the restart, I had no power from 5k to 6krpm. car was going full lean (based on the meter) and noticed voltage was below 10. I knew i was cooked. Happened last year, but there was a second race that I could use a Wall Mart 600amp-hour to carry me through a race without an alternator.
Anyway, I would have loved to fight to the end, but it wasnt in the cards. and, the race ended way early with another full couse caution.

Ill see if I can get the rear cam video that is pretty interesting for the first few laps.

Next year, we will have a few tricks that are known to make this platform a LOT faster! Dont know if Ill pursue a full SCCA season, but definitely some of the Porsche events.

The pinning solved the moving of the H's, but one of the springs is just too weak, or broken to pull the intermediate plate back. the other two are working fine , so it needs to come out. we had to adjust it before every race.

Mine is holding like a champ, even with the higher pressure, pressure plate.
5 races, 8 race days later, its still working fine. (and so is the stroker engine on Amsoil! )
