Actualy we did not have a lot of time the first weekend a few hours Saturday and a few hours Sunday along W/ 90+ degree temps in the sun. Had a set back W/ a bad hose, it had a split next to the clamp and we thought it would be ok. It was not. So the next weekend was the same except W/ cooler temps and a new hose. Oh yea and a pissed off neighbor who did not like "the sound check" when we were trying to diagnose where the whistle was comming from.
All in all I think we did very well also considering Andy has his tools still in So. Cal and I was not sure what tools he had and what we needed.
Andy is a good guy and it was good wrenchin W/ him he is a good fit for us "Norcal 928ers" and yes we did talk politics and nobody got hurt.

THE END RESULT

Special Thanks to Greg for his torque wrench and diligent effort in helping me get the intake on and a knock sensor wiring harness repaired!

The Ford 19 lbs/hr Injector Review ( Part No. 9593-C302 )

After reading about compatibility between the 928 fuel injector and the Ford Racing injectors, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase them at Summit Racing for about $215. When the injectors arrived, they came with lower small seal, just like everyone on Rennlist has said. This seal MUST BE REPLACED FOR SAFETY REASONS. Ordering Roger's seal kit helped solve this issue and the seals went on the injectors in less than 5 minutes. The pintle caps didn't even have to come off since the Ford seal is large enough to slide off with a small seal puller/pick. The Porsche seal went on easily as well without having to pull the pintle caps. Lube those puppies up though with WD-40 before installing and you will never have a headache with injectors seals fitting into the intake manifold.

The Road Review

Driving with the new Ford injectors showed a dramatic improvement engine idle and running. However, the car idles between 800-850 RPM at idle when warm. This is a little higher than the factory, about 100-150 RPM to be exact. When the car is in drive (it's an automatic), RPMs drop to 700-750. Not bad still. Power is SMOOTH. A proper mixture is the key here and with new injectors, you can't go wrong! Acceleration is brisk and rampant with the 19 lb injector. I'm not sure what the factory ones are rated at and if there is a power improvement with the Ford injectors, but it sure as hell felt like it!

I am anxious to get a Sharktuner on this thing to see what the air/fuel ratios are like and to tune it accordingly for maximum power out of a stock motor.

As of right now, I have been driving this car EVERYDAY HAPPILY to work.

Approximate Gas Mileage Prior to Intake Service: 14-16 MPG Combined

Approximate Gas Mileage After Intake Service with New Ford Injectors: 17-20 MPG Combined

Andy,

Did you get the problem resolved with your idle? Sounds like you have, if so what did you do? Injectors for '88 were 18.5 or 19.5 it was an odd one IIRC. Maybe I am thinking about the '87 944 injectors that I have on my shelf.

Engine looks GREAT!!

Michael

Andy: You may still have a small vacuum line leak somewhere. The idle should not be high. We can look it over at the funride.

Wow man, look at those shiny hoses! Very well done. You will be my inspiration when I decide to do this someday. It'll be a while, god willing.

I'd be willing to be that your power improvemetn is the result of functioning knock sensors!

Good work Andy!
