Excellent points! I said "928S" since I saw it on one of the brochures that came with the car. This thing has so much documentation and period literature it is ridiculous! One of them is a gigantic 12" x 12" fold out sort of cardboard thing that is titled "The story of 928S... finest Porsche ever built" then has all sorts of cool pics and superlative captions.
However, the window sticker does just say "928" in the "Model" column. Model NO. 928510 of course and Color Code J6J6VN
VIN: WP0JA092XCS821105
So this is a US-spec 1982 928, not a 928S, correct?
The rest of the sticker goes like this:
928 Coupe $39500.00
Auto trans $---.--
Power seat, right $660.00
Competition Group $1900.00
Electric Sliding Roof $1210.00
928 Standard equip includes:
4.5 liter 220 hp engine
OHC light alloy engine
AFC Fuel Injection
Transistorized Breakerless Ignition
4-wheel vented disc brakes, brake booster
Power assisted rack/pinion steering
A/C, halogen headlamps
Auto full climate control
pwr windows, door locks, pwr antenna
heatable elec adjust mirrors, L + R
rear window defogger
Aluminum front fenders, decklid + doors
rear wiper
wndshld + hdlight clean sys heavy duty
Factory installed accessories $3770.00
Dest charge $255.00
Total $43,525.00
His "real" price with WA state tax and license 4/2/1982 was $46,240.00
He traded in his '80 Chev diesel pickup for $3k, so he stroked a check for $43,240.00

Kie,
That's a 82 "Competition" model. "S" Spoilers and dish wheels like Shane mentioned, but sill the 4.5 L
engine of the standard 928. Still think it's very cool...

Congrats! This is SO cool. Remember seeing a 356 in Paris in 1994 completely covered in dust. The car was appearently imported from Saudi Arabia (or that area) and put in a corner of a small garage that our hotel used. Can't forget about that car, still wondering if it sits in the same spot. These stories will happen again and again, hope I'll be so lucky one day to stumble over a "new" car somewhere.

Evidently he had come in to have his car serviced after the 1000 mile check at 3500 miles or so. The service advisor at the dealer at the time told him they were going to check the valve adjustment. Our dentist owner was mechanically savvy enough to know his car didn't need that, so he left. After that he did not feel comfortable taking the car in for service so his answer to that was to quit driving it.

that is so nice
Marton
p.s. do drive it; I know the mileage is unique but it would be a shame not to enjoy it.
