Ya know, when I first read your title, "Awwwww crap! Just got rear ended! " I was thinking the worst.

But now I see that your car just got hit from behind. That's a helluva lot better than what I was thinking happened to you...

Sucks for the car. Hope it isn't to bad of an ordeal getting it fixed. Don't go to the body shop that Sterling used if you want you drive your car again this year!

Sorry to see that. Big brakes, wimpy brake lights, accident waiting to happen.

Now that I have a busted S4 cluster, I can actually test fit the generic sockets to fit. Ummmmmm!
Tempting.
Thanks for posting the revisit to your rear cluster mod, Borland.
I've only got the 3W led brake lights in the stock locations now.

Many times, I pump the brake pedal when coming to a stop. It pulses the rear light to warn most traffic that they do not have S4 brakes.

Sorry about your car, AO.
Was admiring how sharp your car was at SITM and at Jameson Inn.

This is bunkity-bunk. Sorry Andrew but I'm glad to see it was relatively superficial. I know the sick feeling you must have. At least you can walk away physically unhurt.

I think I spend more time watching the cars behind me than in front of me. It's far harder to control what the ding-bats are going to do (or not do) behind me.

So sorry Andrew! Part of the problem with driving and enjoying your ride, accidents can happen. However, great that you did not get hurt and the damage is not that bad. Best wishes to a speedy recovery!

Sorry this happened to you. I remember how it feels and I know how pissed off you are right now. What do Fords have against 928 asses anyway? Good luck, I hope it gets fixed right and quickly for you.

Andrew
Sorry that this happened to you. At least it did not happen before SITM, that would have been justification for manslaughter to the F-150 driver!

Andrew,
that really sucks - sad to see such a nice shark get smacked. Glad you weren't injured and hope you get it sorted out quickly. I need to pay more attention to the rear view mirror - seems like I never pay attention to who might be coming up from behind while I'm stopped.

So many horror stories like this, and knowing that I'm below the headlight line of most of the SUVs out there, I ALWAYS pump the breaks when I'm sitting or slowing down. Unfortunately, in this case I don't think it would have helped. Andrew was just coming up to the light as it changed. Nowhere to hide, not much chance to flash the lights, just inattention on the part of another driver and BANG.

AO, looks like tail light, bumper cover, a bumper, two bumper shocks, bumper cover weatherstrip, all the hardware and a paint job.

Sorry to hear the news, Andrew. Glad you're okay but get that neck checked out.

Please keep us informed as to how Hagerty handles your claim.

I was just waiting for someone to post this. It is not the size of the brakes (unless repeated high speed stops) but the amount of traction you have. drum brakes would have stopped the car just as fast.

I feel your pain mine was rear ended as well about a two months ago, now fixed. When I took it to the dealer they quoted 3k to replace the cover, tail light and repaint. My insurance company would only pay out 900 total for damages and to add insult to injury I have a 500 deductible.
