Actually it looks like you can have "broad form" collision coverage as stated in http://www.michigan.gov/documents/ci...02_25083_7.pdf then if you are not at fault you are not held to the deductible. Of course I am sure it costs more, but may be a consideration for the future.

Basically "no fault" insurance is ridiculous in my opinion, but I don't really expect the congress critters (state or federal) to do anything other than ridiculous. Some people might say I am a bit cynical...

Sorry to hear of your ordeal. Same happened to me in my 914 years ago, and the other company was not pleased by the bill...

Anyway, if 928 S4 bumpers are hard to come by, please don't throw the damaged one away. I learned a lot about PU-RIM and poly bumper repairs after buying a pair of Sierra Cosworth bumpers (extremely hard to get) years ago that were not nearly as nice as promised by the seller -- who was in England.

I asked Stockton Bumper in Stockton, California to fix them and they worked a miracle. They were knackered, and came back nearly perfect. You REALLY had to go nuts to find the slight imperfection, and it would have been easily rectified in the painting process. I think I was out $600-800 for both bumpers.

Just thought you guys might like to know.

I will not throw mine away. I may use it for some other mod, or as a core for a mold, or maybe sell it to someone who needs one for their track car.

Well things just got more expensive. Yesterday, I fianlly decided to wash the car and upon closer inspection the area where the ground strap bolts to is all bent up. I forgot my camera at home, so I can't post the pictures, but lets just say that it's sitting at about a 30º ~ 45º angle.

I don't think this is a replaceable body panel, so it will need to be pounded - probably be yours truly. Looks like there will be an upwardly revised estimate.

Check your spare tire well as well. (Ha. Double welled)
You might find it a tad more difficult to put the spare tire back in now.

PS. The bent up ground strap area will rust if not properly sealed/treated.
PPS. Are both the rear tire openings the same? As in both clear the rear tires equallyish.

Well, perhaps on the bright side, the increased estimate can help offset the deductible if you do the pounding, and perhaps some needed stress relief with the pounding as well..

I was sighting up and down the drip rail exactly for that purpose, but didn't see anything, but I'll re-check.

The spare tire well and battery box looked fine, but I'm going to re-check.

It certainly rolled it up. But if the hatch operates correctly and the seams are all properly aligned why change it? Or is it affecting something else?

It's not affecting anything but my eyes. I may or may not choose to fix it, but I should at least have it covered by insurance. That's got to be worth at least another grand or two.
