My email has reached one of the board members at UPS and I have gotten a phone call from UPS corporate this morning.
I got an apology and was promised smooth sailing from here on and a free express shipment back to me once the claim is settled and the gearbox is repaired.
Let's see.

How can we make sure it is allright?
It would really suck to settle with UPS,have it shipped back here, install it and then find out something is wrong with it.
Then I would really be in some trouble.

just got a call from Colin, there is an update on the case. The package was released from customs after a 3 week hold-up.
Delivery was performed, but a surprise package contents...
Hopefully Colin will post details and pictures.

While I am waiting for the pics to upload I will give abit of an update.
I phoned UPS today to try to find out WHEN they may deliver this tranny.
I was told then that it would be delivered today as it was on the truck slated for delivery.
My gf then answered the door at moments to 5pm PST, and accepted a package from UPS.
Now my gf is 5'6" and about 115 lbs, she can't lift even one end of a tranny let alone the whole thing.
She then comes to me and hands me a package from ups, and she told me that it just came.
The package had the correct address, package weight, and listed contents.
This is probably why Canada Customs held it for so long.
The package was about 9x12 and designed for 8x11 pieces of paper.
Upon opening the package it had/has 8x11 sheets of paper which I imagine that another company is desperately weighting on.
So the tranny is either still in Florida, or maybe it was shipped to Venezula, or maybe they shipped it to someone else.
I then phone UPS and explained that my package just got delivered and that it was the wrong package, I get asked if I can be put on hold while he looks into what happened. He comes back after 5-10 min and proceeds to explain to me that he can't guarentee that my package will be delivered today, but should be being delivered tomorrow.
Needless to say this kinda shows the competancy of the people UPS has working for them.
I demanded to speak with his supervisor at that point in time and explained what I had just told to the agent, and what he had responded to me. I basically told her that he should be let go, but in a nicer way. She promised to involve his supervisor and site manager with having a chat with him. (I have done the call center work before and know how those systems work).
But to any of you who are considering using UPS in the future. *cough* roger *cough* DONT!!!!
I have sent an email off to the UPS corprate person whom we have been in touch with. And will be phoning her first thing in the morning to try to get a resolution to this matter.

I currently have 2 packages lost by UPS, and in both cases the shipper refuses to reimburse me / send replacement parts. UPS is completely incompetent and I will never use them again.
