Watch this discussion board here for an announcement. In fact, there is already a thread open about a norcal928 karting day - we just haven't found a date, yet.

Oh my. I'd like to comment on the car but I didn't see a 928. Do you have one by chance?

Great work Jeff. Chuck Bauman inspired paint job? It really turned out nice. What's your long goal for the project? Will lithium batteries improve range/performance?

This would be a fun race. 0-60 you probably get me , but 0-45 not many people do

after checking out your project site if you want to save some weight consider investing in some of the lightweight optima batteries. they are something like 20 lbs apiece instead of around 50 for a normal battery. if you have 26 batteries that alone should be almost 800 pounds of saved weight.

Yes , both. My range should be 2-3 times what it is today. Also it should be around a 5 secounds 0-60 car. Ill probably have to put wider back tires back on to get it to hookup ! The finish weight with lithium should be 2400-2500lbs.

Doesnt sound like a waste of sheet metal to me

s

with lead acid EVs, weight equals range. My pack weighs 1300lbs. I needed this for my commute. Where I got ride of weight was by lightning up the car everywhere I could. My current weight is 3450lbs. I should loose 900-1000lbs. of that with the lithium pack.

Im living my long term goal. This is my everyday commute car. Its allot more relaible than a stock 928 and 2 1/2 times more efficient than my wifes Toyota Prius

Default why lock gears?

Just out of curiosity, why lock in 2nd? I have seen a lot of EV conversions on web sites, some lock, some don't and still shift the gears.

Also, why not do like the 928 up in Richmond, BC, and mount motor right onto transaxle, saving the weight of the TTube?

regards
Ken

Jeff:

If there is any way I can help you get this car to Sharks in The Park on May 10, I'll do it. AFAIK, there is no electricity at the picnic site, but I'm sure we can get a generator.

I think it's awesome. My only question is why do this to a 928? Isn't there any less valuable or desired cars out there you could have used? Why choose the 928? Jason

Awesome project. Really really cool. Please keep us posted as to your progress. I was just reading a website yesterday that offered a 928 electric conversion. That company is based here in FL. For a 75 mile range they charge $16,000. If its not to personal of a question, how much do you have in your conversion? BTW, the FL company has a website @ http://www.evporsche.com/
