How do you run your accesories like power steering and A/C on this car? Seperate electric motor?

My transmission only has 2-3rd gears. All others removed for weight. I leave it in 2nd from 0-50mph and 3rd up to my top speed of 85-90 mph. Making an aluminum torque tube is on my short list of things to make.Oh yaa, reverse the motor polarity for reverse.

My conversion is over 500lbs. lighter than his and alot quicker. He cut a big hole through his floorpan to make room for the motor and not happy with the result.

Assuming it wasn't a concours winning car when you started the project, good use of an OB that would otherwise be parted out.

Modified the rack and pinion and changed the weight balance to about 40-60 front to back, so no power steering. Air conditioning ? who needs stinking air conditioning

That is really cool. I have been wanting to do an EV conversion for a while now. I already have my doner car. A 95' Dodge Neon with a bad engine. I would like to use it for my 52 mile round trip daily commute. I would like to see the car in Berkley if you can get it there.

Jeff
Hmm....40% front 60% rear......thats actually BETTER than a standard 928's balance (my thoughts anyway).....

It looks like you are using lead acid car batteries......which work well but are VERY heavy.....have you considered something a bit more hi-tech..... doesn't the Tesla roadster use Nimh or Li-ion batteries....granted they are STUPID expensive...but should increase the range and power quite a bit....I think the 200ish HP tesla has a range of over 200miles? I think it has Li-ion laptop batteries...a WHOLE bunch of them.....couple thousand I think.....
