Default looks like I got the last early 93

my vin is 148
5 speed
according to this chart it is the last Early 93
It would be interesting to see what changes occurred between Late 93 and Early
Maybe not too interesting to others but for me right now its kinda cool

Difference between '92 (what early '93 US model really is) and '93 model GTS have been covered in previous threads. This comes to mind at least:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...fo-needed.html

It would be great if table in message #80 could be edited into first message. I can't do it anymore. If admins can't do it maybe its time to close this and start new thread.

WP0ZZZ92ZPS800291 is my newly collected 93 GTS 5 speed. VIN is consistent with table/data on first page of this thread. Delivered to Porsche GB Reading on 10/01/94.

I need to read up on the 93/94 MY differences.

Erkka's correct, the proper option codes thread is here:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...st-thread.html

Your VIN query result is there.

Bringing this thread back from the dead to ask a question. Does anyone have a complete list of the "sales type" codes and their corresponding model designations for all US cars. The second set of three numbers that shows on the VIN stickers. For example...

928910, 928920, 928940, 928950, etc...and what model designation goes with each code?

As VIN sets are only known for '80-95 MY's this list is also only for those years but its likely earlier cars use same number as '80-82 4.5L cars.

Code:
928500 LHD ROW '80-82 4.5
927501 RHD ROW '80-82 4.5
928510 LHD USA '80-82
928910 LHD USA '83-89 S, S4, CS and GT
       LHD USA '90 S4
928920 LHD ROW '80-89 S, S4, CS and GT (automatic and manual)
       LHD ROW '90-95 automatic
       LHD USA '90-95 automatic
927921 RHD ROW '80-89 S, S2, S4, SE and GT (automatic and manual)
       RHD ROW '90-95 automatic
928940 LHD ROW '90-95 manual
       LHD USA '91-95 manual
927941 RHD ROW '90-95 manual
928950 LHD USA '90 GT
List is quickly put together so there can be errors.

In any case numbers are sort of list of body styles but then again not really. For example sunroof and sunroofless bodies both have same number and in some cases cars with and without US rear side lights. There has to be some reason for different numbers. One would be manual vs automatic in relation to what shape body around gearbox is but that doesn't work either, at least not in every case.
