A message from Jay Kempf I was supposed to have relayed a few days ago:

Can one of you guys post something to the forums for me?
Just tell the crew that I spoke to Josie, that I am so unbelievably sorry, and that I ain't gonna be myself for a while. I'll be out in the woods hiking, biking and in my kayak until it get's cold enough to ski and then I will be doing that. Sometime over the course of the next yearI will do my damndest to re-connect in person with many of those that Ihave been too distracted to travel and see.
I talked to Walt and he is has always been a big crutch for me as always despite his own grief.
Troy, Tarek, and Tom and all those that were close to Scotty for the last couple months: try to just get away and think of the fun things. I spent about 4 hours in the woods yesterday and some great friends forced themselved in right under my elbows the rest of the day and for that I am grateful.
Like Josie said, find someone you trust and care about and make contact. Don't put it off. And don't be afraid to say the things you want and need to say. No do-overs in life.
I'll miss him. I miss him terribly already.
jfk
It's never been about the damned car!

There are so DAMN few truly good people. When we loose one, the world becomes a less enjoyable place. Peace be with you brother, and God bless and comfort your family.

OMG! I never met Scott in person, but had the pleasure of chatting with him over the phone. He was very generous with his time, & knowlegeable 928 advise. He will be dearly missed. God bless him, and his remaining loved ones.

Wow, I am floored by this sad, sad news. I have been traveling recently and haven't been on the list for a while. Then, when I finally get on today, I am greeted by this horrible event.
I knew Scot through various SITM and Frenzy events and from posts on this board. He was a very outgoing, fun-loving and friendly guy who was always selflessly willing to help out friends and fellow 928 owners. As you can read by all of these posts, he touched so many of our lives in so many different ways. Just one example: I remember at last year's Frenzy, one night he started giving out chiropratic adjustments in the hotel room to anyone who wanted one, for free. One person after another - he helped them all out until his arms were nearly exhausted and his hands were cramping up . . . and he didn't ask for so much as a thank you from anyone. That's just the kind of guy he was . . .
Rest in peace, Scott. You will be missed.

I still have not gotten the story/reason as to why Scott died. The info over the crash is vague at best. Does anyone know what actually happened? What led to this or was there anyone or anything else involved? A full story would be appreciated.
If it is something that some wish for it to remain a secret, I respect that. I can be reached by PM.

As to the cause of the crash being vague well he was driving alone at the time of the accident in a very rural part of Pensylvania. I am not to familiar w/the area, only been to Scotts place once, but it was my understanding that he drove off the road, into ditch and struck a pole. I believe that he was in an Acura, the car specifics may have already been posted earlier in the thread but he was for sure not in a 928.
I am sure that there are a lot more details regarding the crash investigation, speeds, distances and others that are listed but there are those of us that have not heard a lot of specifics.
I think that we all know that accidents can and do happen. I think it is enough to say that we all missed Scott at this years Frenzy and will miss him in the years to come at 928 and 944 events across the country.
If and when his family decides to give more details I am sure they will.

Wow! This is terrible. I've been out of the loop lately and come back to see this. All these great things said about Scott were exactly my experiences with him. Friendly, helpful, knowelgeable, honest and sincere.
He was a pillar to the 928 community. He will be sorely missed.
My condolences to his family.
