For those who knew him...Scott Mohr

Drifting
All, I have been away from the list since last year when I lost my much beloved '89 GT to the RepoMan. I decided to check things out this morning, just to try and catch up and see what's been happening in the 928 community. Now I see this thread, and I'm absolutely devastated!!!!!!!!!!
"Doc" Mohr was in my select group of hardcore 928 friends, although I probably didn't have near the amount of contact with him as some of you guys. He was ALWAYS up for some 928 fun, be it driving, wrenching, or chatting. The last time I spoke with him, he knew that I had been going through some troubling times, and he told me to give him a call anytime I needed to talk, and that he was there for me if I needed him. From all of the posts on this thread, I think you can all see the common theme: He was a VERY giving person. The world died a little on September 19th, when it lost such a positive, influential, kind, giving, fun loving man as Scott. He was truly a great friend, and will be sorely missed.

I sold my 86.5 about 2.5 years ago, and haven't been back to this list much since then. Today I bought my second 928 (seperate post), and the first thing I did was look up Scott on Rennlist to let him know I'm back in the 928 scene. It's so sad. I met him when I first started looking for a 928. I had seen about 6 of them when I went out to check out one he was selling. He took about 5 hours to show me that car and the rest of his collection. He even drove with me an extra 45 minutes out and then another 45 minutes back to his house for an excursion to show me a convertible 928. He was truely passionate about these cars. I was really glad to meet him - and of course I bought the car. He stayed in touch and helped me diagnose stuff and get parts when I needed them. Last year I was back in touch with him talking about building a Jeep Scrambler (another common interest). I always assumed he would be there when I was ready to get back in touch about 928s. He was just a straight up really great guy. I only made it to one 928 even 3 years back in DC. He was there and tried to encourage me to stick around. Like many of you have noted here, he was just so friendly. Well, I just wanted to add my piece. I'll end by saying that the day he sold me that car, he spoke very highly of the 928 community - you guys. He said that was a big reason he liked the hobby and that you were all the friendliest of all the various special interests he had had - and there were many.

Thanks for that post. It is fitting that this resurfaced this week of SITM. Scott was a special 928 guy, and we will tip back a few in remberance of him when we gather together over these great cars.
