CT Automotive : 928 Repairs in the Bay Area
Who are you guys going to in the bay area for 928 repairs?
CT Automotive has been working on my 928's for 20 years.
They do great work and are reasonably priced. The great thing is that they can get pretty creative to get even the toughest jobs done, and done right.
They just repaired my mess of a swaybar chassis mount. they boxed it in perfectly and im sure the weak link not is the other side
With Devek slowing down their repair business, that leaves very few options in the bay area, all of which have many downsides most of which cost or convenience.

Last week I recommended CT to a 928 owner in Fremont who was looking for a new shop because DEVEK had closed their service operations.
In the North Bay (San Rafael) Hi Tec Automotive is very, very good.

a lot of the shops that dont often work on 928s, shy away from them. even the dealer botches up repairs, due to some of the unique issues 928 repairs usually have.
This is why CT Automotive has a value. you know the job will be done right the first time, and by guys that are not scanning the Workshop manuals to try and figure out what they are doing.

With first hand experience, i second Bill's recommendation of HiTec in San Rafael. Deven and crew are fantastic ! They have sorted out numerous bugs for me, including a pesky battery drain that Bill helped diagnose (Thank you, Bill).
My latest project with them was the conversion of my 94 auto into a 5 sp. Yes, crazy, but the car is fabulous.

for verification of technical specs, yes, but not to learn how to do things. that costs more time and we all know the learning curve of some of the tough jobs

Did you have a problem with the automatic or are you just crazy that way.

There were a couple things that I found in my PO receipts that gave me the idea that CT didn't have a clue about 928s. The one I remember most was a note on the receipt saying that the car had to go to a body shop to get the rear sill reshaped so the hatch would close properly. With less than 3 months of shark experience under my belt I fixed it in a couple hours with an $8 part. (Details)
Seems to me there was more, I'll have to go look at the old receipts.

I took my car to Hi- tech in San Rafael based on Bill's recommendation and Devon was great. It seems they will be getting a lot of work from me soon as the radiator is leaking really bad now and I found some coolant spots at the left front of the car which sent a chill down my spine - water pump leaking? I'm through fooling around with whether it's time for the TB/WP service. Next service schedule will be new radiator & the whole timing belt system. I can never find a lull in the "routine maintenance" where I can finally upgrade to some new wheels. Someday...

No, Chris has been there for 20 years and has done every job imaginable on a 928. rebuidling transmissions, engine, cams, headers and the stuff that other places cant fix. (the stuff where you need to be creative)
