Default Local drag night

Test and tune night, I lined up with a few mustangs and some trucks, the best pass I made was 14.3 at 90mph, I feel these are decent numbers. I want some boost, is it possible to build a DIY kit for around maybe $1000?

good luck with that.... Paxton used to make something that was an easier bolt on than a twin screw. btu to fabricate something from scratch, not without a lot of specialty tool.

PM him, he might send you a template for the bracket.

here is a great kit that normy put together. I think you will find most of the stuff laying around your house. It looks like it hooks up in about 1/2 hour

not without serious fabrication skills, a welder, and not caring it isnt the prettiest thing going as you would be needing to use PVC tubing for intake piping as aluminum mandrel bent piping would cost almost that alone.

Fox
14.3 is good for a stock automatic...but 90mph is a bit low.....you might be a bit short of HP.....it should run 95+......try posting it on dragtimes.com.....

I have a low speed because my reaction time was .839. I've read Imo000's DIY page before, I need my A/C in Florida. I never thought of using PVC... would that work okay?

Trap speed isn't affected by reaction time, you're still traveling the same distance regardless of whether your R/T is .10 seconds or 10.10 seconds.

The trap speed is low. Possibly the throttle cable is stretched , the knock sensors not working or some such thing. You might want to put it on a dynojet dyno since so many results are posted for you to compare with. Before any kind of boost it makes sense to have it running like it did when it was new.

The knock sensors are new, I am going to bring it to a dyno soon to see some numbers.

Ross,

Your E/T trap speed combo is pretty interesting. What hurts the '87/'88 S4 A/T quarter mile times is that the engine typically redlines right before the finish requiring a third gear upshift at the very end. 14.3 is very respectable, especially considering the 90mph trap speed. From what I've seen locally, I think average trap speed is around 96-98mph, but with the same E/T as yours. Either your car is a torque monster off the line but flattens out in the top end or is slow off the line and picks up late. Maybe your flappy isn't working? Can you post the slip?

You could do a similar build to Imo, just changing to a bracket more like Murf and Carl use in front of the engine. A rear mounted turbo should also be easier and cheaper.
